DocT4-How to Rise as a Ruler (RaR Training SG)

So no reply from Tinkez after 4 days then? should we skip him?
Read the cross-post just above yours.

I have finished DocT5 and this one is on my list next. May take up to Tuesday evening before I'm able to play.

Pre-turn:
We have 26368 culture points. Nothing to do.

IBT:
Celts and america sign alliance against the arabs.
Screw Propeller -> Mass production.

Early:
Get Mass Production and rush crystal palace in Leh.
We have 2 aluminium.
Slow down research significantly to get money for culture rushing.
Russians complete Great Library

Mid:
Build Theory of Evolution. Pick Psychology and Marxism to get two new culture buildings.
Start Eiffel, finish Central Bank.
Rush lots of Theaters (2cpt)

Late:
India and America signs alliance against Korea. Who cares?
Complete Pentagon.
Spend more cash to culture - we currently have ~32000 culture and gain ~500cpt. It takes still some time to get 50k.

Peaceful turns ahead. If someone wants to play more than ten, I have nothing against that. The game is in the bag.

Here we go, sorry its late.

Turn 0 (1400AD)
Turn 1 (1405AD) Summer Gardens completes.
Turn 2 (1410AD) Espionage >> Refridgeration [9]
Turn 3 (1415AD) India declare war...on the...yawn...arabs.
Turn 4 (1420AD) Eiffel tower built
Turn 5 (1425AD) Renew wool deal w/Japan takes an extra lux before they accept
Turn 6 (1430AD)
Turn 7 (1435AD)
Turn 8 (1440AD)
Turn 9 (1445AD)Hurry alot of culture buildings
Turn 10 (1450AD) Madras (India) completes shakespears theater

Gained 6060cp on my turn - we've got about 18-21 turns left before we win...

Tibet, 1450AD
Ok, let’s see how to speed up our inevitable victory.
Building Opera Houses before Cathedrals (we’re REL, after all) makes no sense. Easiest way to get more cpt are more cities; there are really a lot spots left on our continent. Order loads of Colonists on the Persian island.
Cheapest culture are Shrines (1cpt/20sp), then Temples (1/35), then Artists Guilds/Libraries/Academies/Major Ports (1/40). Anything else before that is a waste.
Note a disbanded Cav=40sp, Rifle=30sp (Harbor), Leatherneck=35sp (Temple); 1 chop=20sp (Shrine).
We are definitely over-irrigated; need to plant lots of Forests, to get more productive cities. That was the sole thing that wasn’t perfectly fine with the game. :)

There are 2 more Luxuries to get; remember, WltKDs grossly reduce waste.
Sell techs to America and Korea as well.

Founded about 20 more cities. Built Sistine, Wonderland, Clausewitz’, Winter Palace (Pompeji).
Refrigeration indeed gave us Cereals 2 at Lhasa and Persepolis.
Gained about +15cpt/turn; we ended at 943cpt. So even a 120k cultural victory would have been not too far away.

*Most culture from the Oracle, then the Palace Gardens.
*Japan must have lost the first Settler to Barbs, they didn’t found a second city until very late.
*US became pretty “strong” in the end.

This turned out to be pretty easy. Hope you enjoyed it nevertheless; IMHO the opening discussion alone was worth it.

The Save before winning.

Good thread for learning about RaR. I just DL'd it yesterday and am currently overwhelmed by how big it is. Reading this should help me learn quicker.

(Also *bump* so I can finish reading it later)

DocTs, I would love for you to get in a MP game. I and a friend of mine play MP all the time with RaR, usually nightly at 10 pm est usa. We have both been playing since DyP first came out, and RaR is about the only thing we play. We would love to see you, maybe Kal-El, Isak, and some of the other veterans in a MP game. If any of you veterans are interested email me at Moderator Action: Link Deleted . I posted a similar post on the other main RaR boards I have read.
