Does a Universal Truth Exist?

And now I am quoting myself:

And to answer your original question here's another universal truth: there are living things and innate things in the universe. (And, extrapolating from this: the difference, however, is a subtle one.)

QED.

If you think about it, it's not that difficult to postulate a universal truth. (Which, BTW, answers the original question of this thread as well.)

I'm not sure why, but that does not seem like a universal truth. It may be true, but so is :"All matter is made up of quarks and leptons."

I think we need a definition of universal truth.

A universal truth cannot be defined. Definitions are by definition relative in nature.

I believe that universal truth exists, but could never under any circumstances be expressed. Any expression of truth is relative, since all forms of language are relative.

A universal definition!

Exactly.

Probably. The original question was: Is there a Universal Truth? Which, implicitly, provides its own answer: "YES, being...", "NO" or "UNDECIDED"; if we apply quantum theory here, the answer may even be YES + NO + UNDECIDED. But explicitly you indeed get a list of universal truths, like "All matter is made up of quarks and leptons."

Now, halfway through the question was reformulated as: (Can we ever know) Does God exist? which is basically the same question, though rather than being more precise it's actually more obscure.

And having arrived here, I tend to agree with the post I just saw appearing below... (although the relativity in there seems a bit overly self-evident).
