does anyone bother with espionage?

I use spies to see how much turns it takes the AI to build a wonder and see if it is worth trying to build it first. I really don't like wasting all this time and shields

It is really very easy to get a propaganda mission to work.
First, you get the whole world into a war by starting alliances with everyone.
Second, wait a few turns for some of the civs to switch to communism.
Third, look out for the capturing of cities by other civs and use propaganda immediately one turn after the city has been captured. Since the citizens in that city will most probably still be unhappy at being captured, the chances of successiopn propaganda is very high.

This works almost all the time. A high culture level helps and be sure not to do it too much or people will start hating you.

yeah thats what i explained in my post, in my signature about how to use propaganda missions successfully.

I plant spy in every civs for the space race matter.

If I am behind in the tech race, I use steal tech because sometime, it's cheaper that way (instead of buying and no Ai get no cash!). It may be surprising for you guys but I achieved almost everytime in tech stealing without get caught.

Maybe I speak louder, Firaxis will listen:

DECREASE THE COST OF SPYING!!!

To be continued in the amazing boring series of "Civ3 patch" Season 1: "Long road to perfection"
