Does building a nuke cause the game to crash?

I am two turns from completing my last mars module, and I can't get past a crash after clicking next turn. The first time it crashed I reloaded the last auto save and I replayed the turn the same way I did last time, and quick saved to save me that time anyway, but of course it crashed again during the AI moves. I noticed the audio glitch a couple times, then I get the crash message.

The only thing that seems different to me is for the first time I tried building a nuke and it was one turn from completing when I pressed next turn. Does something special happen the first time you build a nuke? I have never even tried building one before. I was hoping I could just stop production of it to get my game completed, but if that is not it, does anyone have any other ideas how I can work around this? This is one of the most fun games I have played yet, and it would be a shame not to be able to get the win.

I have been able to build and use nukes with no issue and no crashes; it's likely something else. There are a number of late game defects that cause crashes.

I found one of them - if you have a spy captured, and eliminate the Civ that has the spy captured, you can't take any more cities without crashing.

Same: built them and used them without any glitches

How many GPU options do you have under CIv6 graphics options? If I run under my GeForce 960m selected the game crashes every 5 minutes late game. If I run whatever generic Intel chipset GPU my laptop has, the game runs just fine without any crashes.

The game sometimes crashes. although I can't report that since the last patch/DLC or with building nukes.

I am at peace, so no city captures or eliminated civs (unless the AI has eliminated someone during it's move), but I think I have a few captured spies. I can try trading them back before clicking next turn.

I think I have almost all the graphics options turned on, and have been running that way since launch. Almost all my crashes are during exit to desktop, and the two or three previous crashes I had in game went away after a reload. This is my first case of a repeatable crash.

So I traded my one captured spy back to it's owner and stopped making the Nuke. When I press next turn it works it's way through the AIs, one of which offers me a trade deal I accept, then it starts processing Egypt's turn, and I hear that audio skip that causes me concern. Several seconds later it crashes again. I can't imagine it's a graphics thing, so I am not sure what I can try next unless maybe I proactively trade with the Aztecs so he doesn't interrupt the turn.

I gave the Aztecs a copy of all my extra amenities and he still interrupted me asking for more, and it still crashes while processing Egypt's turn. Not sure I can change anything that will affect that as I traded with her as well before clicking next turn. Maybe if I declare war on her it will change her turn.

What version of the game do you have?

The previous version (38?) did have that bug but they fixed it for most instances in the most recent version of it

Turns out declaring war on Egypt changed their behavior enough to get past the crash so I was able to get my Teddy achievement.
