Does building districts or settling on Ley lines destroy yields?

Decided to finally try the hermetic order. I’ve noticed the AI has an uncanny ability to build districts right on top of the Ley lines if they’re not also HO. I know these Ley tiles still provide the adjacency bonuses, but since the (arguably) strongest aspect of the HO is the yields from great people earned, do you still gain the extra yields if say, an aqueduct Is built on top of it? Or am I going to have to decide between razing a decent sized city just to get a few measly points?

You wont get the yields when a district is on the leyline field, similiar to any tile yields under districts. The only exception is the city center since its tile is always worked.

Hmm, looks like same logic applies to wonders on Ley lines. In my current game, America spawned near 6 lines within capital and first two cities and built wonders or districts on 5 of them. These 6 lines were about half the total that spawned on my continent, leaving me with only two. Anyone else been rolling similar situations? Really underwhelmed by HO so far

HO is too luck dependent for my taste and ley line spawns in general are quite badly positioned (alot in spaces where few other resources are e.g. snow/tundra). The big bonus from LL also come at the 3rd tier of promotions which is quite late compared with the other SS. Together this makes HO quite underwhelming.

It's worse than underwhelming, it's almost impossible to use :
- it's the most elusive invitation : you can always find one more hut, barb camp, or send one more envoy, but the natural wonders are scarce and scattered
- ley lines are incredibly rare, you can have a whole screen without one in sight
- they can be rendered unusable by the AI

In the end, how many will you actually benefit from ?
It's entirely possible to play a whole game where your only bonus will be the alchemical society - which isn't so impressive, since the production bonus isn't related to the adjacency, where the gilded vault's culture bonus is.

What??? Ley lines???
Yup.
Secret Societies mode (NFP required) as the Hermetic Order.
Underwhelming to put it mildly so I usually cheat if this society is offered - save the game, take the society & check for local Ley Lines - if there is not very many or in wrong places, reload & don't pick the HO.
Yes, I know it is cheating - I already pointed that out....

Been there done that... it's the only way with HO. And frankly, not ONCE did I wind up going on with HO, because it just s..ks big time ! The ley lines are always in places where there's no possible way I'll build a city there !
