He sucks because he's always declaring war on the weaker build ai factions, which sucks because I tend to align myself with those over the more warmongering factions.

He sucks because as soon as a blood truce is over, he declares war on that faction. And he's a rather disobedient pact brother...

Actually, I have a lot more problems with Merriam Godwinson than I do with Yang.

Same here, but I always play as the University.
Yang's a close second.
But then again's I'm opposed to both of their ideologies, so I'm less nice to them in the first place.

Bothers the hell outta me, going to war with Yang, because he's always got so many bloody cities, and while I can pick them all off one by one while I twiddle my thumbs and wait for my planet busters to come online, the cities I take in my march to his core are all worthless as anything but temporary airbases for my planet busters, and once Yang's been nuked to hell, what am I supposed to do with the twenty-odd little ghetto-towns I just conquered?

Plan A:
Starve the base down to 1 citizen and then hurry a colony pod. However, this will not work if you have population boom (via Cloning vats or social engineering) and a Sky Hydoponics Satellite or two.
Plan B
Open alphax.txt (or alpha.txt if you're playing the original).
There will be a line that says:
1 ; If non-zero, obliterating a base counts as an atrocity
Change this to:
0 ; If non-zero, obliterating a base counts as an atrocity
Now you can wipe out useless bases without penalty.

I always kill Yang in my games--I usually play as the Believers. Now I have SMAX, which means I never have to look at Yang's ugly mug again

Uh, you can add custom factions in original SMAC too. What part of that don't people understand? All it involves is editing a single line of text. And it's not even complicated either. Sheesh.

Yang doasn't suck.....Miriam doas.

Give them to a pact brother/sister, esp one that you conquered into submisson, makes them stronger, better able to carry out your wishes.
Yang sucks... bad.. so does kundork... :mischief:

Just land forces via naval transports adjacent to his biggest port base, then proceed to take out every one of his core cities in rapid fashion. Mop up the rest of the worthless bases afterwards.

This works with every faction.

I always try to win by transcendence, I am of the pacifist kind, but anyway always try to kick Miriam and Yang out of my world, treacherous and arrogant they are... :ar15:

Or Trade them for an other factions city, that one funny thing is trading a Size 1 city you just build for the AI city that has 3 secret projects and is size 12 :crazyeye:

For me I just keep them as extra land, and cities.

I have never had a game where I didn't destory the Hive and/or Believers. The Believers are normally weak (for me), but the Hive they always have like this crap load of cities and units.

No suckage. I always totally overkill playing Yang. He's almost to powerful of a faction I think. It's quite easy to end up with 20 times the military then you really need and still keep up with tech and all. I have a ball playing him.

Back in the days I played MP, I never lost playing him. I was going against some very talented players too.

There should be an option in the poll for all of the above :D. I don't like Yang's ideologies or the fact that he always declares war. I had one game where I didn't have to worry about him because I played in SMAC:AX and The agressive aliens killed off the Hive before I had to interfere. They also killed the spartans too. Then I came and killed them all ;).

Well, Yang always declares vendetta upon me, even when he's grossly out-teched. The same thing holds true for Miriam, too. The SMAC AI is better than the Civ2 AI, but it still isn't perfect. (If an AI can be perfect, that is.)

Who cares if chairman Yang sucks?
Aa far more interesting question is does Lady Deirdrie suck...? :D
Does she swallow ?
