Seriosly speaking: it doesn't matter that Yang is a sneaky s.o.b.
The AI just isnt as smart as a human player which means that its just a question of time before you wipp it.
Also its nice to have someone to hate, it is our enemies, more than our friends, that can motivate us to excell. Hate is a much more potent driving force than love.
Which is propably why the programmers made Yang the way he is in the first place.

When i play, I always explore the world to find out that Yang have declared war on the Gaians or the Believers. I always kill Yang and Miriam.
Then I divide their cities in two groups: the great ones and the weak ones.
The great ones, I just make them part of my empire.
The weaker ones are my gift to my everytime allies: The Gaians.
Deirdre: What? A gift? I like gifts.

Just use them as human-supply bases that help populate you new colonies. I.e. god transport system and some money are needed to build colony pods fast.

Yang doasnt suck....at least not with me. He isn't so agressive (unlike Miriam) couse i always have "police state" on......ofcourse he declares vendeta sooner or later, but than i just woop his a$$

After having re-read my post I feel the need to correct what was written there:
First: I dont like the idea behind bookburning, ... ANY books, PERIOD!
Second: I dont like the holier than thou types.
Third: I can respect if YOU give up some of YOUR FREEDOMS because of YOUR beliefs,... sooo... youre a moslem, so you wont touch beer, fine with me.

I love that Yang declare war on me. If he is close enaught it mean I have to concetrate on building my militiray Power. when I am ready I attack his base, accept his first Truce Proposal (with some Energy) and some faction will ask me to join him againts him.
Current game playing the morganite I got the Univercity in my south, Beliver in south East and Hive in south west. wheh I had 3 or 4 city the Believers and Hive declared War on me. I destroyed one believers city and make Peace with believers. with the help of first Airplane(some missil rover and infantry capture first city from Hive. Accept truce and later join the univercity in Brother pact againts the Hive. I capture 3 city of the Hive and Univercity capture 1 and the Hive where history. later I built many wonder in the Hive former capital.
In other games when Hive where less close by the time I wiped them out they have made a lot of city with a lot of road and other improvement.

That last part ther is true; the Hive always has a nice infrastructure so you don't have to spend time on farming, making solar collectors, etc.
Unless of course yuo, like I do, prefer forests over other types of improvements. Then you have some work to do, since the forests won't spread when surrounded by farms, and you can't destroy the improvements because then your base'll starve...

I HATE Santiago and his amazons! They mined thier whole territory and if I ever capure it I'll get a large drop in ecology 
. Hive on the other hand are a faction that is always good to have in check. Whenever they start expanding I declare war on them straight away. Otherwise they absorb everyone but me and thats not fun!

It's true that the Hive eradicating all other factions are dull... The best gameplay comes when the most factions are up and running...
But on the other hand, it's nice to have a large enemy to battle. It can get dull to just take Morgans or Deirdres 5 bases or so.... Allthough Deirdre can get really big if she's left alone to grow for a while

the curent game is funny for a change i played at citizen level as UNI tryinng to mke 6 city at same distance from univercity base but made 3 city in a line 5 square distance one from the other. 2 more city in west direction. made peace with hive when i finish to clear a square from fungus to build another city hive just move this square to there teritory so when i build my colony there the peace was broken. the war began with heavy casualty.at the end the hive surender. I put all airplane in one city, build punishement sphere, go free market, build some sea colony to get the beleiver in my airplane range.
bought all map the morgan sold. make pact wirh morgan eradicated the believer . by this time the Gaian had the bigest population 6 city size 13 and some medium and small colony.with fusion speedr and artileryand infantry i conqured 8 colony of the gaian (airplane became almost useless the defend with AAA garison and worm) at the end Gaain surenderd too and Spartan was easy pray just to move the army in.
