Does encampment xp apply to gold/faith bought units?

I was wondering if anyone has tried purchasing a unit with gold or faith in a city with an encampment district. Did you get the XP or is that only if you hard-build the unit with hammers?

Note that the encampment buildings don't provide XP, as they did in Civ V -- instead, they provide boosts to XP gain from combat.

Thanks, I did not realize that. So in that case, do you know if the ability to earn XP at a faster rate applies to gold or faith bought units purchased in a city with an encampment?

This would be good to know. I am running a new game and hoping for a religious victory and need troops to wipe out the heretics!

Is there anything in the interface that shows what kind of XP bonus a specific unit receives? That would be kind of nice to have.

Am I the only one who find the new encampment/XP system super confusing? It's very hard to gauge how much of a benefit it actually is, and it makes for some weird situations where you have old units with promotions and new units with no promotions, and it's not obvious whether it's better to upgrade the old one or build new ones instead and save the gold.

You could try renaming units when they are build with the modifier they should have in the name to make comparison easier.

As for whether to upgrade or buy/build new ones i guess it depends a lot on how much combat you expect to encounter but i must say i do like the new system as it doesn't automatically make older units redundant, especially in the later game when you could have 2-3 promotions when built.

As an extra point of testing it would be interesting to see how the xp boost affects corps and armies.i.e. if the highest ranked unit has the xp boost and the others don't does the corp/army have the xp boost and also if you add a unit which has the xp boost to a corp army which doesn't have it does the corp/army gain the xp boost.

Units get XP faster even when purchasing them with gold in a city with an encampment district. We don't need to keep on the hard-build.

Just confirmed this morning. I purchase a knight at a city with an encampment include stable and armory then kill one swordsman, earn 8XP. Then reload the savegame, two times.
1. The knight that hard-build (not purchase) at same city also earn 8XP when killing one swordsman.
2. Have a city without an encampment, purchase knight. The knight earns 5XP when killing one swordsman. (really feel happy when I finally saw the number '5')

I implemented such feature in Better Report Screen, tab Units. One can see all modifiers attached to a unit.

Follow-up : does anyone knows what happens to the bonus if I merge the two knights in a formation (corps or army) ?

I don't know for sure (sorry), but from my observations it seems that one unit is considered "better" and it kind of becomes upgraded, the other unit is simply absorbed. Imo the "better" unit keeps all its characteristics, and the absorbed one is simply deleted.
Or maybe it just follows the UI command, i.e. preserving the initiating unit. I always select "better" unit (with more xp) and point the unit that I want to absorb.
Anyway, I never observed any kind of "sum up things", it seems that one unit stays and the other is deleted.

I really liked the actual promotions you got from military buildings in civ 5. It's a pity you have no chance to get promotions in peacetime...

Does anyone know about a mod for this?

No there is nothing in game which is annoying. I find just play with your troops and you will find some will get higher. If you know how XP works (read the guide) then you can work out each combat which unit it is as XP rounds up.

Great, thanks I will qualify that in my XP guide, I did test it a while back but forgot to add it.

Yes, read my XP guide - section corps, armies, fleets and Amadas (above my signature)... it depends but primarily it is based on the XP of the unit, you can sort of choose if they are the same level.
