Does the AI seem a little over-eager to Capitulate?

To be fair in the real world Churchill was outmanned, and out gunned, by a much larger country with more land and very publically refused to capitulate. Maybe it's a Churchill trait?

I imagine as you attacked he made some speach "we will fight them on that strange white glow that surrounds our country"

Sadly no. That would be cool if it were like that, but I don't think it is.

The Ottomans had 4 cities, I took out 1 - nothing. Took out another and capitulation was available.

Brennus had 3 cities, I took out 1 - nothing. Took out another and he capitulated.

Churchil had 2 cities, I took out 1 and he capitulated.

The pattern thus far for me is if their empire is reduced by half, they capitulate.

lol every game its happened.

The AI wants to throw their cities at me. I've been sat with 12 odd cities, started war against japanese, they started to offer capitulation after a couple but I really wanted them off my continent so kept going for capital until they were left offshore. Start a war, if you have military advantage after a couple of cities they normally offer this...

I'm on my third game now, two have already capitulated by 1460.. seems quite easy but I'm going off it now as tend to make peace, catch my breath then carry on.... so capitulation doesn't really match my gameplaying until the end..

Has anyone noticed that you can't give the cities back to them once they capitulate!? Pity. That would make the game interesting. I guess you can let the culture take over the recently conquered cities though

you can, go to war empty the city let them capture it... when you take it back from then you can either keep it for yourself or give it back to the empire it came from (your capitulated civ)

I've had quite a few civs capitulate to me fairly quickly, and while furious with me, during wartime. It seems to be triggered by my taking their capitol. I did notice that when I already had 3 vassals, the civ I was at war with vassaled to the largest of the AI civs rather then capitulating. As a result, I ended up destroying the vassal. The 'master' civ offered capitulation, but I ended up taking all his cities instead for the domination win.

Peace time capitulation isn't happening very often, at least not for me.
