Does the Patch made modded games useless?

After the patch, I can't access my modded games. It comes up with a runtime error.

I'm new to Civ 5 and was wondering if this is typical.

Do they usually get fixed or should I just start another game?

By the way, I saved several redundantly and they all do the same thing. I haven't tried to start a new game yet so maybe that won't even work.

It probably messed up some files essential to your games, so starting over would be a good thing to do. I bet that a new version of your mod will arrive. When you still want to finish a game, better temporarily hold off from patching until you finished the running games in the future.

I didn't know I had a choice to hold off installing the patch???

It automatically downloaded it when I started it up. Is there a way where I can choose whether or not I patch?

Steam->properties of Civ->tab 'updates'->'do not automatically update'.
BUT! that doesn't always work, I think

Unfortunate that you did not know you could hold off the patch, but yeah you can. Better not let something like this happen again.
