I tried Futurehermit's Rex strategy with Mehmed on Standard / Continents / Emperor / Marathon.
It worked wonderfully. Ottoman +2 happy + 2 health aqueducts were amazing, the only drawback I felt were 5-6 turn anarchy periods to switch civics. Spiritual would have helped. Didn't feel the need for creative. Organized worked like magic allowing me to support much bigger empire pre CoL.
I cleaned my continent by 1400 with grenadiers / trebs with elephants / knights support.
Now, I am trying to figure out when to take the war to the next continent with: Churchill and Cyrus and Alex. All 3 have grenadiers already. We are at tech parity.
Here is how it went:
I took out Stalin with axes early on by 870 bc.
Math-Alpha (lb) - Currency - CoL - Pacifism (LB) - CS - paper (LB) - edu (LB LB) - liberalism - Printing Press (freetech) - gunpowder - chem (LB LB) 1080AD.
Took out Asoka until he was vassalized with a few cities remaining in 1220AD, then used remaining forces to destroy Qin.
Now it is 1340AD. A few turns after the war. I am first in score and 1 in population, land, etc.
I would like to have a decisive domination over the other continent. Alternatives I am considering are:
1. beeline for democracry and switched to emancipation and vassalage to cottage the war torn land.
2. beeline for communism, workshop the grassland
3. beeline for infantry and launch the assault
4. get military tradition, amass grenadiers and cavalry and launch an attack as soon as possible
5. more?
What would you do?
