Domination wins in Emporer 2.08

Khan makes a demand. I reject. Prelude to disaster?

Time to finish Cyrus off!

No sweat.

I'm checking the domination screen and it looks like I'm just going to miss the land percentage with what I have on this continent. My caravels are off searching for any empty squares I can settle. I'd rather not invade Khan or Toku if I don;t have to. I'm starting the Apollo program in case I have to win that way.

63.74% and there are two squares on this continent left that I haven't claimed.

I find an island. I'm building a settler to seal the win.

Khan decides to invade me.

I had some Frigates just outside his borders. His army looks pretty intimidating. I haven't been building many units since I though I would have enough land to get the win...

Gao may be a goner here.

you're spiritual aren't you?
time for nationhood, slavery, and US.
Draft (infantry?) in Gao, whip artillery in Gao, buy/whip gunships (or cavalries?) all around the place.
I can't see such a low tech stack doing you much harm (unless you get passive)

the drama!!!

he's not spiritual (ind-fin i believe). assuming at least 2 rounds of anarchy and the possibility that he could attack you in 2 rounds (1 to move the ship and land the guys, 2 to attack). are you in US or Nationhood or Slavery? if so, that will obviously help. if not, yeah, you could lose the city. however, you can easily retake it, settle on the island and then win when your borders flex out again :)

edit: have you been running the culture slider at 100%??? seems to me that all you would've needed ftw was your borders to flex a bit more...

Not spiritual and I why do you think that stack is too low tech? My war against Cyrus ended with grenadiers and I haven't been building many units since I though this landamass was big enough for a domination win. Besides, most of my troops are city raider troops and they're still in the south.

The slider is up because there are still 2 unclaimed squares on my continent and I was hoping that would be all I need for the win. I'll whip a unit in Gao but there is no doubt I'm going to lose that city.

I have a settler en route to that island as well.

low tech because you have artillery and saminf at least.
I know the cavs will go pillaging if you have 1 good defender.
That would be enough to bring a few more troops

A lot of those cavs have pinch promotions so they are 20.25 str. My sam infantry are about the same.

Sorry to rehash, but the secret to keeping research up while waging war and support a large army is to get Hereditary Rule to work cottages?

This has been very educational.

No, but if you can get a few extra happiness from HR therefore build more cottages isn't it worth but you can't rely your science totally on it.

The key to success was definitely the land he conquered a lot of grass, rivers and built cottages that's something what we all could conquer and first thing early was colossus it's made possible to work on +4 commerce ocean tiles. Just a mention a few and of course there a lot more. I agree that was pretty impressive.

EDIT: My qustion is that does AI build more cottages on Emperor?

Thanks for the suspense! Great game, i wish i were as good on emperor. I can win space pretty well but not domination.

PS: did you know beforehand that you would get domination and were just baiting us, or was it a surprise to you?

I was pretty confident those two unclaimed tiles would give me the win but didn't know it would be on the next turn. Even if they hadn't I would have been able to hold off those cavs and settle that island for the win.

Anyway, I hope posting this game helped some people out who are trying for domination wins.

It's helped me, now I just need to do it already

p.s., In retrospect do you think you could've just given Genghis the $$$???

wow, excellent game. At first I was like "this guy is f****** nuts", but your play is excellent for that leader. I imagine it would be much harder with others though. I don't see how you managed to maintain your tech rate with all the cities you captured, but I guess this is a good opportunity for me to try something new.

This is the best guide to domination!
it's fool proof and shows exactly how you did it!!
I love you!!!!

Nicely done :goodjob: . I can win on emperor with a space race and in my only immortal game sofar i also pulled of a very thight space race win. This is quite something else though. Seems i have to track back to emperor just for the fun of it. This is a good guide for domination win, HC seems to be a good leader for domination wins.

What i particularly like in this leader is the Quecha. Easy management of early barb problems so you can get a religion and don't have to worry too much about building too few or too much warriors. Also the option for an early rush, all very flexible.

Yeah I should have. It wasn't that much either.

Conquered cities are almost always immediately profitable. Building cities from scratch is tough because they grow so slowly and none of the land is improved. They are money pits until they grow to 4 pop +.

I wouldn't call it foolproof because lots of things can go wrong but you should be able to stay competitive just by following this method.

Yes, the Inca is, IMO, the strongest civ in the game. Also, normal speed makes the early game much, much easier.

I'm halfway through an immortal game using the same civ and strategy. I took more capital screen shots so you guys can see how I handle my tiles. I'll post it soon.
