Don't bother if you have a mac

I tried playing the demo using Crossover on my Mac, but I couldn't read the fonts and the game crashed immediately after the menus.

I've since installed Windows XP (SP2) and have run it fine without problems through Bootcamp, albeit with graphics settings all pretty much on low.

FYI It's a Macbook Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz.

UPDATE:

Uninstalled Civ5, changed settings in Parallels 5 so that the My Documents in Windows 7 does NOT link up to the Documents folder on OSX. Reinstalled Civ5. It still doesn't run in Directx 10/11, but it is running in DirectX9.

This might be a long shot, but anyone having these troubles, try making sure that the My Documents folder hasn't been changed in any way (although I'm not quite sure how anyone running a normal windows pc can change anything about My Documents).

TC. Have you tried using CrossOverGames for Mac?

http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/

It is basically a splinter from the Wine project (which, another user has posted works with Civ 5.)

And what do you mean PCs are having tons of trouble with it? Do you mean when people try to run two OSs and play it (Because that wouldn't be 2K or Fraxis problem), or just run it in general. Cause my PC can run everything at max (AA included) at 1920x1080p.

CrossOver eeked by, but I went ahead and set up a Windows partition and ran the game through Boot Camp...though there's still some graphics bug that starts plaguing the game in the medieval period.

UPDATED:

Everyone use bootcamp! $50 bought me a 500gig Seagate Barracuda harddrive. Bootcamp installed Win7 x64 and Civ5 is GORGEOUS! Smooth running and having a blast.
