Don't mention your vote in a post

Actually this is an option in the control panel. :) I can make it update a thread's last posted time after voting easily.

Very likely....

But the poll would probably already be high to have people voting on it. Also people probably post and vote at the same time so it would be effectively bumped the same amount of times.

True, weve got too many lurkers around here whod probably do that.

There already is a major problem with people posting in threads that have long been dead (strategy, tips, tactics, etc. for civ3 that was written well over a year ago and made obsolete by patches). Some people don't pay attention to the date on a thread. People using the 'search' function find lots of outdated threads and if they also post in those polls, the threads would be brought back from retirement again, restarting the whole debate all over again.

If polls are going to be brought back to the top of the list evertime someone votes in it, then there should NOT be an option to run the poll forever. Threads that are over a year old (maybe even 6 months?) should be closed to prevent someone bringing the thread back from the dead.

I know. Sometimes people register only to vote in polls, or use the search function. Thats why we have 25000 users but only 18000 that post.

Wouldn't that be Two words, two letters, and a number? Sorry, Chieftess, I couldn't resist.

I've always found it odd that there's no poll feature that allows you to see who voted for what. Seems like an obvious function to me.

Although I can also appreciate an option for making some polls "confidential".

It doesn't really matter to me whether or not I can see who voted for what. I'd like the option, yes, because there are times (Like the What Level Do You Play poll, where you can see who plays what, but there are other times that I can figure out who voted what by the discussion. Of course, in my mind, this is what the discussion is for, to proclaim your vote, and defend it.

This is a really good idea, having some kind of code that automatically closes out a thread over two months old, or six months, or whenever. I don't know how many times I've read a dead thread and was trying to figure out what the poster was trying to say, because as Bamspeedy said, it was irrelivant. I even posted in a thread today that I didn't realize was over a month old, someone revived it out of the blue.
