Doom 3.....really terrifying!!!

Planet Olduvai and mutants  Only thing what I'm expecting from this movie is to see this millenia new action star Rock :D And there should be few id software characters, Dr.Carmack I pressume :D

Any last minute tips before I buy? I had it in my hands yesterday but knew that I would have no time then. My only fear is that it'll be extremely choppy and slow. I compared its system requirements to the Medal of Honor series that I have and they all seem to be less.

MoHAA is pretty old by computer tech standard. Have at least 512RAM, and it looks pretty good on ati 9600. 1GB RAM and nVidia 6600gt is preferred though. there's a demo out now, so you should probably try that first if you doubt your system.

I just tell you RegentMan, Doom 3 is heavy! I have 2Ghz processor, 9800 Radeon and 512Mb ram it's still slow at 800X600. So if you have decent machine, IMO Doom3 isn't so bad purchase.

Sigh... three disks? I immediately knew that it wouldn't turn out successful. Prior to installation, the program told me that I do not have enough RAM to properly play Doom 3. I thought that it probably wouldn't work, but I went ahead anyway. After installation, I started up the game and got an error message in the console stating that openGL failed to initialize. I have an Intel 82810E Graphics card (I believe). Any tips for fixing openGL/acquiring more RAM?

By the by, all that computer talk makes no sense to me. I am nearly completely computer-talk-challenged.

I'm not really an expert, but Doom 3 is probably the most graphically demanding game out there. My guess is you need a new computer...

Tell me RegentMan, if you know, is that integrated graphic card? If it is, I'm not wondering at all if it won't work. Perhaps solution is to buy "real" graphic card.

Acquiring more RAM? Yes there's one way, buy more.

Sorry but that's the trend nowdays, buy buy buy :(

Doom 3 is hand down the scariest game I've ever played.
You need to put yourself in the atmosfear, wait the night, shut off the lights, use good sound (maybe a headphone) quite loud, and PLAY ALONE.
Let yourself immerse into the game, try to forget that it's a game, and let sink into the thing.

With this, I had a real trip to Hell. Only game I had to make pause after some hours, just because my nerves were too tense. It's definitely worth it.

Yea I can only play it for about an hour, hour and a half before I got to take a break. It frazzles my nerves, but it is definately one of the best games I've ever played.

I played the DEMO

awful framerates on my MX440

The Doom movie is not on Mars, does not involve Marines, and does not involve Hell. I don't think it should be called Doom. :(
Oh, trust me, once you've played the first level half through, you'll see the very meaning of "doom". ;)
