I LOVE the archer bombardment feature in DCM. Buuuut. I feel bad about it 'cause I build masses of archers while I can so that I can still use them even in the modern era. I just wiped out a nest of enemy paras with them. It's daft. But I donno what to suggest. I don't want rid but can you just make it less - much less ! - effective against 'rifles' onwards. :confused:

(I know I could just deselect it - but I don't WANNA ! :mischief:)

the archers are suppose to be obseleted in modern time, i think with the first gunpowder unit its suppose to go.

ill check it out. im not playing with archer b on, instead i gace ranged b to all archer units.

No. Look. They ARE obsoleted !!! You can't build them ! But I KEEP them very safe when I CAN build them. Then I use them for the rest of the game. It's their ranged attack ability that stops me from upgrading them.

BTW I don't understand "instead i gace (gave! Jehosaphat! Your TYPING !!!) ranged b to all archer units".

P.S. I'm prepping a mega feedback about many features. I'd like to get nearly through a whole game before I pass it on unless you're thinking of a major u'grade in the next week or so ...(?)

i get it now, so, how about i give grenadiers ranged b like the archers? or perhaps add a unit class for that purpose?

ohh mega feedback! i like! im not preparing a patch just yet, i have gathered stuff, but have not done any yet, so after your big feedback ill make the patch.
 
Hmm. We don't quite 'jive' yet. Thing is... the ability to use ANY unit (more accurately a large stack of units!) for ranged attack is incrrrredibly powerful. The problem is how to fade it out for the modern units. Archer RA against TANKS still works a treat. Krazy. The EASIEST thing is to just not have it. But for me a more staisfactory solution is to make it increasingly LESS effective against the later era of units. Can you do that ? e.g. archer bombard against inf - modern inf- etc just isn't worth it. So NOW I would want to pay the upgrade cost.
 
Can't you go into the options menu and disable it?
I thought there's an option there.

Anyway, Keldath, enjoying it so far. A little weirdness to report. Trying to found amun-ra as the Egyptians founded Hellenism instead. :)

Also, remember how I told you some of the civics needed reworking? Well, it appears you have changed some, which is good!
However, Authoritarian shouldn't have a happiness penalty to people who aren't in it. :)
PLus, it's like a nicer version of 1984. :)

Antitheism should have no religion at all, it's basically a land of atheists. They don't care about Religion. :) So, remove the bonuses for religion and give them something to make up for it. Don't know what.

Also, pacifism shouldn't have the unhappiness penalty either, it's not a major world view in such a way that people would be angry for not being pacifists. Think about that for a moment. Angry Pacifists? :)

But so far, it's looking good. Although, you still didn't drop the 11 civs on a normal sized map. so, now I have 7 vassals. :)

Oh, another one, I got the Training Ground, but it didn't give me Exceptional. :(
Loving the promotions from combat though. :)

hi man, i knew yould write something on the civics :) i was counting on it.
during my gam eplay now, ive marked some civics that i never use , since they either have too much bad stuff in them or to less good.
using your feedback i can make them even more better.

i forgot about the civs for maps, sorry, will not forget for next patch.

K and DavidB111. I fixed this. See post #2204. (Although right now you have to edit your own xml). What you playing at K ???

David111. You need to read my earlier posts. I LOVE archer ranged attack. It's just too powerful in the later part of the game.

Antitheism is not Atheism. The first is actual opposition (can be just as stupid and fanatic as any form of theism), the latter indifference or apathy.

Counting Antitheism towards Atheism is not wrong per se, you could say it is one very radical form of Atheism which ironically shows similarities to other religions.

i have played it on mp, but you need to be carefull with what settings you play with - use only: ranged bombardment, and in the options, dont use barb civ/world -no revolution, no inquisition, no dynamic names, no minor civ, i dont know about advanced diplo though.

and thats it i think, if you have an oos you can load and continue.

i played several hundred turns.
 
i just played tonight with my brother. first, i use all the default options (including revolution, inquisition, dynamic names, advanced diplomation, etc) but no barbarian. somehow the game runs fine but after about > 1000 AD, my civ were destroyed and the OOS occured :D

Then i created a new game. this time i disabled the revolution (kinda hard with it). my brother didn't played well. his civs were at low rated, so he decide to took an AI's civ. after he rejoined, the game turned OOS. then he tried to rejoin his previous civ, but still OOS. But since he was the host, i decide to rejoin the game instead, and finally the OOS were gone. :D

the other issue that i saw is some texts are not correctly parsed. e.g in diplomacy screen when i hover the text to find the description build embassy, there is text "[COLOR_LIGHT_GREEN]" that is suppose it has to made the font become green. CMIIW. (sorry i can't attach the screen shot).
not a very significant though, but some "CAPS_LOCKED_TEXTS" makes the descriptions not easy to understand. :D

most of the mod components are suitble for mp, although, i dont recommend using them.

i play with most of the options off.

your right about when rejoining after destruction - this is a part of revdcm that isnt fixed for mp yet, but i think its not that bad, hopefully it will be better in the next release of revdcm.

the text, i noticed the diplomacy text errors as well, this isnt my work, so i didnt know there was an error, but i will fix it easily for my next release. the other text errors you see - id be happy to know of and fix, i sometimes dont pay attention to the texts...

yeah...most units are its not related texts.
making all the texts right is a very time consuming act, i sometimes decided to to put much energy in that , its a lot of work for just one guy, i rather invest my self in the game play quality.

-Antitheists consider theism-- and the products thereof (ie: not educating children about the sciences, tabooing medicine, etc.) harmful and, as such, should be opposed. Fanaticism has a different meaning.
 
-Here's a question: is the advancement of Combustion Engine supposed to obsolete Lighthouses? That advancement cuts port cities in value in a big way, forcing me to either accept a much lower population or a much lower productivity (farming all the land around it). If it is intentional, I accept that, and will have to figure out how to get the most of my port cities while I can.
