I have not found this in the rules, so please explain what happens if:

Users threaten each other with possible moderator intervention and bans. Even if they are not moderators themselves. Just as a way to kill an argument. If someone instead of giving you an answer just tells you, "Hey, this might be against some (unwritten or commonly accepted) rules, you're out for a 7 day ban!"

Not only does this kill off all arguments. It's a way of fascist thinking that's disgusting.

So, what's a proper response to behaviour like this?

call a REAL mod, i'm sure they will imform the "false" ones who has the real power and who is full of hot air

Also you could check the rules yourself and comman sense to see whether you think its likely to be true...

Thanks, but that's what I wanted to avoid in the first place. If someone doesn't agree with me, I don't want to report his post, I just want to hear his/her reasons. If he doesn't want to give them, that's fine with me, as long as the reply does not involve anything annoying.

That is not the same thing as "If someone doesn't agree with me ...." You are welcome to disagree with each other. But the behavior you indicated in the first post calls for Reporting the Post.

Well, no one would threaten you with a ban if he agrees with you.... I just have a problem with it, if the only answer is a threat, nothing else.

I guess I'll just leave it for now, and report it the next time.

No poster shld threaten another with a ban (or 'mod intervention'). If you come across such, pls report it.

Otherwise, like what Padma said. ;)
