Hi. Welcome :wavey:

There were some problems on the Internet over the weekend. Have you tried to download it again today?

had an issue myself when the last patch came out, same same as this. wouldn't update. I uninstalled the entire game and downloaded it again. there might be a way to do it with a bit more finesse, but if it keeps saying the servers are busy you could try doing that. it worked for me, i just couldn't play the game until the download completed.

sorry for my bad english.
i have the last two weeks, all days probing the downloads and i have looking for the steamserver they are not busy.
when i will starting the download, then i have the same problem. on steamwindows is the game of status "download starting ..." when i press the right button on me mouse an then on the menu say "play game" comming the first windows with the messages "all files sussessfully validated" and 15 sec. later the next windows with the steam error " the steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request. Please try again in a few minutes" so thats my problem
steam have say:

and i have remove all Files and Directories from Users\[username]\Library\Application Support\Steam only this SteamApps and i have steam new installed ==> the problem was alway the same.

I had this problem too.
Finally bougth my first Mac this week (wish i had done it years ago)
Of course the first thing I do is install Steam so I can download Civ 5,
but I had the same problem as above.
You have to go into the Steam folder in applications, delete a few things and re start Steam.
Found the solution in Steam support but not easily.
I am at work now but when I get home I'll post the link to the support page.
It tells you specifically which files to delete and where they are.

i wonder if you are home from work now and could post the link of how to solve this ?

many thanks for the help.

Restart Steam
If the issue persists, exit Steam, rename your ClientRegistry.blob, and restart Steam. The ClientRegistry.blob can be found in your Steam installation directory. ~/User/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam by default.
If the issue still persists, you may have issues with your local Steam files. You may refresh these files without deleting your game files. Please follow this process to refresh your Steam files:
Exit Steam ==> Not functionality

Navigate to your Steam installation directory: ~/User/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam
Delete everything in that directory
Restart Steam to test the issue==> Not functionality

but i have remove all files and the directory from stream.
rm -r /User/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam and then can download the game ;-)

I have a problem where Steam persistently tries to update itself - the above solution didn't work for me... I've contacted Steam Support for help and am awaiting their reply... I'm not happy about this whole arrangement - I'd much prefer a standalone downloadable update to both Steam and Civ 5, just like every other major application out there - and just like Civ used to be. This problem has already caused me to waste a large portion of my monthly download limit. And until I can update Steam properly I will not be able to download the latest Civ 5 patch. NOT HAPPY.
