Remember, dont do P.U.I

Playing Under Influence.

Could result in the death of innocent civilians when you nuke the wrong province...good point.

(Only happened to me in civ2, and I wasn't drunk, but still)

Good timing Barbslinger!! I got rather tanked this weekend and decided to start up a new game and have some fun. After a few MJ breaks and several shots of vodka and southern comfort (it was all I had in the house) I managed to pass out on the keyboard. That was how my girlfriend found me when she got home from work at 4:30am. I had quite the case of QWERTY face when she woke me up. After sobering up (and dealing with the subsequent hangover) I fired up the game to see how I did. I am kicking butt! I may have to continue this game next weekend.

Excellent rules.

Only water.. :)
Same, though mine is dark yellow and bubbles

I remember doing this ( ) with Diablo 1 and Unreal Tournament a while back with some friends over a LAN. The PvP got really, really awfully funny to watch past 2 AM. Doing it was another thing though, as you couldn't really tell what was going on. The screen didn't move when just watching, which helped a lot  Real time was a real killer on those games though

i have played drunk before. i have noticed my play is much more impulsive. if i start losing sometimes i just go gung ho at the computer and then i have nothing left. usually though i'll switch to fps games when drinking. the action fits my buzz better. a good india pale ale is my beer of choice. if only when u drank beer it made u feel good the next morning. if every beer = 1/2 mile of exercise, eating some vegtables, and drinking a glass of water. then i would be a healthy person. if i had ultimate powers that is how drinking would be.

I've played wasted before.....its not bad if you are already in the midst of a military campaign or just industrializing.

I try not to drink do it if I'm about to embark on a great power war that can have unpredictable results. I usually only start a major campaign if I'm fully rested and have nothing to do.

I have played whilst drinking in the past, but not in an organised fahsion like that. It doesn't improve my play. I also agree with thetrooper; activities such as shouting and falling over are ideal when accompanied with alcohol.

a triple resurrection of slinger, Whomp and this thread! ;)

and yes, coming late to the party i still give an answer: yes, i do play while i drink. :D

For me, only tea. Herbal. No, not that kind of herbal.

I'm uncompetent enough at Civ3 as it is. If I drank alcohol while playing, I'd probably be restarting a lot more often. Like, every game...

I've been an alchoholic for 20 years, so "do you play while drinking?" is maybe rather the question, and I do.

After a couple of strong beers, I function normally as a human and can even trick myself into thinking that strategic computer games are the meaning of life :)

After a few more, I get tired of all the planning ahead, changing descision and cleaning up, which civilization really is a lot about, at least for me.

For example, just when I've built a well combined and large enough army to start taking over Mayan territory, they finish the great wall...

Well, then, you know where to send your army first. Then it is your Great Wall.

I know, right, but I don't even know where Copán is (I should have scouted ahead) and even if I did, it could take me 15 turns to get there through hostile territory.

I suppose I should stop behaving like a complaining child or an undecisive woman, which I'm probably both. Thanks for the comment.
