Drinking while playing

A few people who have played succession games with me know of my penchant for tipping a few during play. I have also been PM'ed if I had rules. I have started playing again and when I do drink on the weekends I jotted down the owns I could remember. I started making myself rules because I would become so absorbed in the game I would sometimes forget I had a beer next to me and 2 hours later it would be warm. I put in these automatic drinking pauses to assure my game play was well balanced.

Feel free to add more if you have any that I may want to incorporate and please no harping that drinking and Civ don't mix. 3 parts civ and 1 part whiskey make an excellent "Sneak Attack"

Also included are a few rules I follow while out drinking.

Barbslingers Rules for a Drinking Conquest

There are 3 types of drinks I use: Quick swig of beer, Long guzzle of beer and the oft-used shot of Crown Royal.

Swigs-
After every city build or conquest
New tech, love those 3’fers
Connect a resource / lux. Look for pop-up
Making peace. Quickie and back to the game.
After going through cities and hitting enter as many swigs as needed. This takes time and you’ll need the beer after this arduous task.

Guzzle –
While game is loading.
Leader / great wonder build
DOW either way, stand up while drinking this one. Possibly a shot if sneak attacked.
New era was a 3 guzzle stand up pause.

Shots -
Losing a city.
Exterminating an enemy.
Taking over the lead per F8.
Anytime you need to clear your head and think about what strategy to use it’s a stand-up shot.
Closing game when you can’t see it anymore.

I never thought about instituting rules, but I may have to try those sometime. I could never do it if it was a real intense game, I'd make too many knucklehead mistakes. A nice screwing around Monarch game perhaps tho. I also couldn't do it with whiskey, but perhaps tequila.....

oh god, this game is a terrible one to drink to. At least something like Dynasty Warriors has ACTION in it. If I come home from the bar the last thing I do is fire up civ...

Even worse if alcohol isn't your choice of intoxicant, immediate boredom...

No I'm not. The smell almost made me throw up.

The thought of consuming Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast) feces isn't appealing to me.

I didt im 29 and still cant stand the stuff. Hmm well except for Pernod but thats only beacause it tastes of strong aniseed.

Drinking is still a bad habit of mine, and if I have some beer in the house, I'll definitely tip a couple while playing Civ3/Conquests.

add a clause "a SHOT shall follow a succsesful steal",
or it can come alongside ANY theft attempt

I agree wholeheartedly! Except with the Crown Royal - though it must be said my friends and I are whisky snobs. At least the Canadians spell it properly!
