Ok, so you manually change the time limit in the preferences each time you start a map, or I think you can change it in the Scenario editor. But.....

1) Can you disable it period?
2)If you can't disable it, can you permanently set the default to the maximum? (I think its 1000 turns??)
3) Any other advice would be great!!!

While I'm at it,

1) Can you change the default setting of the Domination victory to 50% control? (or whatever you want besides the default 66%)
2) Is there an explaination somewhere as to what all those game victory options are (there's a few that make no sense...)?
3) Any other info about all these changes from vanilla to complete (C3C w/ PTW) would be hugely appreciated!!!!

Thanks!

1. No. :(

2. Yes, by editting your default Civ3 bix/biq file.

3. Just ask for advice on any topic. :)

1. Yes, I think, in the editor. I'm not 100% sure though, and can't check with this computer (no civ installed).

2. Regicide = 1 king. It dies, you lose.
Mass Regicide = Same thing, but you have 7 kings.
Elimination = You lose the preset # of cities, and you lose.
Capture the Princess = Capture the Princess unit in an AI's capital with a unit, and bring it to yours and get points (I think).
Victory Points = Each capital has a victory location. Put a unit on it to gain points and win the game.

That's all of them IIRC...

3. Check this thread for a HUGE list of chances. :)

You're welcome of course!

You don't have to stop just because it's 2050AD. The game asks you if you want to continue. The only thing it doesn't do is keep score, or let you win by another victory condition. (540 turns *IS* the victory limit). But, you can continue playing.

OK, next question: I've seen screenshots of grids being used, is that option in the preferences? I guess I could look before asking though.... sorry. I guess this thread will be my little ask questions thread :-p Thanks for helping out!!!!!!

Oh wait, i got another.... :-p

This is a cheat question ( i don't like cheating but i'm still curious for easy quickies ;-p)

can you create a gov't type that only humans can use? Like, could i create an "ideal society" form of gov't, but keep the AI from using it, or at least make it real unattractive to them?

You know, there is a Quick Answers thread. That thread was designed for questions such as the ones you're asking. :)

In any event, Ctrl-G brings up the grid. Some people like it, some people don't.

As for the government, you could create that government, attach it to a tech, and have that tech only available to the human civ. But there's nothing like "If civ='human' then human.govt.tech = 'available'." You'd had to go in before each game, decide which civ you want to be, and change the rules so that only that civ can research it.

I would take that question tho, and ask it in the Creation and Customization subforums. That forum is specifiically designed for modding the rules.

1 - CTRL-G
2 - Yeah, make a government tech that has a dummy tech requirement, then give your civ that tech. Although, there can be problems if you give really high values. I've tried this before.

Also, for #2: If you have Conquests, you can set 'flavors' that will make the AI steer away from them. But if you don't want them to have it, like they do in Rise and Rule (a mod), just create a tech (no requirements), and give it to the one civ. For example, there is a tech called "Being Babylonian" that only they start with at the start of the game - you can't even research it. :)

@colsoncj - dunno what difficulty level you're playing or what your experience level is but most folks only find the 2050 end year a limitation when they first start playing Civ - eventually you'll find that very few games make it to that year.

So far, haven't reached 2050.. im playing on monarch right now. if i play a conquest only victory, sometimes it takes a little while depending on how i want to play the game.

You can also change it in the ini file in the Conquests directory. Just add 999 instead of 540, with the very first turn making it 1000.

I believe you can also do this in the ini file, though I'm not entirely positive about that.

Here is some step by step instructions on changing the domination victories (land and population) with the C3C editor - I don't think it's possible with PTW or Vanilla:

1) Load up Civ3ConquestsEdit.
2) Go to Scenario, then Scenario Properties. (Or Alt + Enter).
3) Select the "Victory Points Limit" tab.
4) You will see two input boxes: % Terrain for Domination, and % Population for Domination. Set these to whatever you desire. :)
