Dumbest question ever

So, this is undoubtedly going to be the stupidest question ever posed to this board...

I recently started playing Civ2 Gold. I had played Civ2 when I was a kid, got nostalgic for it, reacquired it, and discovered the Midgard scenario. My question is, HOW does one enter the underworld via an underworld entrance? Is there a trick to it? A particular key? I've been having to use a cursor to go everywhere as I'm on a laptop, so if it's something on the keypad that I don't have, how do I remap the keys?

Thanks... And pardon the stupidity behind this post.

For regular Fantasy play: It depends on which race you're playing. The most direct route to the Underground is via the Gate of Hel. There's only one, and if anybody builds a city on it, it's destroyed permanently. Not all units can use it; check the Civilopedia to find out which units are capable of traveling between the maps. This Gate is placed randomly each game. Sometimes you're lucky enough to find it nearby, but all too often it ends up located in the middle of enemy territory or way out in the middle of nowhere and takes half the game to find.

Buteo Settlers can travel to the Underground via the Gate of Hel, so what I like to do, if possible/practical, build my Buteo capital underground. That way I can explore that level with flying units and not waste vast amounts of time with slower units.

Goblins and Dwarves can create their own ways into the Underground by making tunnels. Some other units can also use these tunnels, provided the terrain below is usable/traversable.

For the Midgard Scenario: This is utterly fiendish. I have never been able to finish one of these scenarios, since the solution to at least a couple of the mini quests has eluded me. Basically (somebody correct me if I'm wrong), you need to bribe a Dwarf. He will then be able to build tunnels to the nearest terrain suitable for building a city. To the best of my knowledge, the Gate of Hel does not exist in this scenario (at least I never found one).

KNJoe, I got the same problem but the solution is a dissapointment. The issue here is that only Civilization 2: Test of Time offers possibility to travel into underground (or sea, or skies) and not Civilization 2 Gold. :( Midgard scenario with all these fancy travels to and fro the underground is possible ONLY in Civ2: TOT.

P.S.: Not a stupid question there. ;) This might really be annoying.

Yep. Definitely a Civ 2 TOT square.

But don't build a city on it. You will destroy it, and unless you are a Goblin, Stygian, or have bribed a Dwarf, you will have no further access to the Underground.
