My old laptop ran Civ IV fine, but slow. When I needed
a new hard drive, I decided to upgrade instead so bought
a Toshiba m65 (1gb, 2ghz, etc.). I can't run Civ IV or
most new games and evidently it's because of the dvd-rom.
If the shop uses their test drive which is read-only it works, but they've put
3 new dvd-roms in which don't. They're saying I can't run
these games because of software problem, but it has something
to do with the drive obviously. What to do? What to do?
Thanks!

You didn't really posted enough to help you. What is the problem exactly?

Anyway the game refuses to run from my DVDRW because of SecurRom issues. So I'm using CureRom to run it. It hides the fact that I put my DVD in the DVDRW or that I have Nero installed. I'm not sure which, but without it the game doesn't recognize my DVD. And it is real if you're wondering.

Look for Curerom on google.

Oops, sorry. I've talked so much about this I forgot to put in the
general problem which is that the program installs fine, but when
I try to play it I get one of those Microsoft messages asking if I want
to send them the info and they will have to close the program. Like I
say it works fine with another dvd-rom. Now they want me to pay an extra $200+ to downgrade my dvd. Thanks!
