DyP Alternate Cavalry Pack Vol. 1

amazing!

Sorry to bump this thread and just critisize... :(
The Camel Rider's trousers shift colour from white to a dark colour from frame to frame, so it flicker to much.
And another thing, under the camels head there are something (the rope we see in the pedia icons?) , and this isn't moving at all, so it looks strange to see this dotted line.

I know I'm a pain in the donkey, so if you don't want to touch this unit again, just ignore me...

What happens if the Bedouin is attacked while fortified? It is already dismounted, but AttackA is played, and it dismounts again. I think it should be mounted in the fortify.

Actually, I was going to say this a while back, but never wanted to bump the thread. Although I'm a GREAT fan of the units here, there are certain glitches with the graphics when I open them up with FLICster.

Take the elephant archer as an example. The death animations have ghost pixels all over.

As I said, I really LOVE these units, but I'm not sure if these glitches occur because of corrupt downloads and all.

EDIT: After re-downloading, none of the glitches ever appeared again. So, anyone who has the same problem might just re donwload the whole thing...

zulu - I think Kal-El resized them... I didn't post them here? Maybe Kal-El would be willing to do that.

EDIT: Also, yes, there are a lot of flaws in the animations. Some because I was new and inexperienced, others because I was on a schedule and didn't have time to get all the bugs out.

But as I've said, I think I'm going to redo them with the new techniques I've learned, and I think they'll be much better. I was never really satisfied with them to begin with to be honest.

I for one would be very grateful if/when you are able to re-work these units. They are conceptually wonderful, the modelling is great, and they fill specific needs... it's just that the palette issues, and especially the animation needs further refinement. I applaud you for revisiting them.

The camels' movements are what I'm really hoping you might spend more time with.

Cheers.

These looks great, and it would be even greater if you did other variations with them aswell. There are just to few camel and elephant units available... So I hope you will make some more "modern" ones aswell, with rifles (or even pistols..)

How can you guys stand playing with mute units? I wanted to stab myself after two silent attacks with the Bedouin. Worthless without sound, really.

I always burp while the animations are on to imitate the camel sounds... now the elephant is really difficult, u see.

This is an elephant archer. Most of the time, archers were used on top of elephants because its a lot easier than giving them a lance and telling them to use it effectively from that height. The riders are based on Indian military uniforms of the age, but the armor is something more typical to what the Greeks or Carthaginians might have used. This way it can be used for almost anybody, though its really meant for the Indians.

P.S. I'm going to make an Indian foot archer based on the archer here, but the tunic will be civ-specific, not white.

Any time set on this archer from India. Looking over units and especially archer/bowmans I can surely say we haven't got many. The two from Civ3, a fine Greek Archer and 2-3 more, I think.
Indian units are as mentioned before surely missed.

Soooooooo sorry for bumping this truly.
I bow and are ashame, I should have PM Dom Pedro.
Forgive me please :.......

dont worry, cemo. for every person who minds there's at least one who doesnt.

personally, i'm often surprised and amazed at some of the stuff in the archives, so i'm always happy to see an old thread - it's like xmas, you dont know what's inside and you just might love it!

These are great. I am planning to use the Bedouin's for Arabia and Babylonian cavalry and the Mamluk for Egyptians. Any suggestions for a Persian cavalry unit?

Don't Bump old threads, maybe?
