Easter eggs in Beyond Earth

I know that some people here are disappointed, but I'm really enjoying this game. One of the things I'm getting a kick out of is the sci-fi and future fiction references peppered around the place. For example:

Hyperconductors
The quote says "Resistance, in regards to electrical conductivity is undesirable. In regards to hyperconductivity, it is futile." I take that as a Borg (Star Trek) easter egg.

Ultrasonic fences
When the building quest pops up for this one, one of the choices is to "reverse the polarity" - I take this to be a reference to a favourite saying of the Third Doctor as played by Jon Pertwee.

Sandworm
A Dune reference?

Soma Distillery
This is a reference to Aldous Huxley's book, Brave New World. Soma was a drug freely available to the population to keep them docile and content: "..there is always soma, delicious soma, half a gramme for a half-holiday, a gramme for a week-end, two grammes for a trip to the gorgeous East, three for a dark eternity on the moon..."

There are also plenty of references to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri as well: the Human Hive, the Crawler, boreholes, the Drone Sphere.

There must be plenty more out there. Has anyone seen any others?

"The 5 mythical creatures of Earth: The dragon, the unicorn, the griffin, the chimera, and the llama."

Definite Sim City reference :)

In fairness, I think it may be simpler to find things that aren't references. The developers borrowed heavily from the tropes of space science fiction to make the world of Beyond Earth.

Some of my favorites are in the game's achievements, such as "Live Long and Prosper" for completing Prosperity.

One of my favorites was the quote "So Say We All" from a Purity Affinity.

Unless other media used that quote as well, it is a reference to the revamped Battlestar Galactica series.

Beyond this flesh,
Beyond this dream,
I have danced among the stars.
My children dance on endless worlds.
— Kavitha Thakur, "Glorious Key of the Exodite Sutra" and obvious reference to the AoT quote

I heard the developers have hidden an enjoyable, balanced game somewhere inside Beyond Earth's code as an Easter Egg.

Has anyone managed to find it?

I get a kick out of the Achievements names: Walk without rhythm (worm killing), Making way for a hyperspace bypass, etc etc. They're basically all sci-fi or pop culture references.

Yeah, Civ5 achievements were like that too.

"Making way for a hyperspace bypass" is from hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

What's "walk without rhythm" referring to?

I just found out that the only thing on google that responds to the name of "Magnasanti" is the name of a city made with Sim City 3000 with maximizes the population to extreme levels. The creator claims that he took him 3 years of calculations and trials and errors before reaching this final design.

here is the video:

Link to video.

As for other homages, the game designers of Civ BE stated that they got the idea of bugs and miasma from Nausicaä of the valley of the Wind

There is then an obvious similarity in design between Battlesuits and Space Marines from WH40k.

Haha! Yes, the Battlesuits are very similar to WH40K.

And as to the achievement easter eggs, one of them is "The only good bug is a dead bug!", which references Starship Troopers.

I was really hoping to see a Blade Runner - maybe in the supremacy affinity? - but am yet to find one.

I did not think of Doctor Who. I saw it as a Star Trek reference because "reverse the polarity" became an overused techno-babble phrase in TNG and Voyager.

Not sure if this is an Easter egg but when you are making planetfall, you can see FRXS on the side of the spaceship.
