Irrelevant.
What if at the end (or beginning) of a Research Agreement, each participant chose whether or not the agreement would be disingenuous? That is to say, each RA would have three possible modes:

Player A is Honest, Player B is Honest; result is same as current RA.
Player A is Honest, Player B is Dishonest; Player A gains 1/4th current RA :c5science:, Player B gains 1/2 :c5science:.
Player A is Dishonest, Player B is Dishonest; neither player gains any :c5science:.

This would introduce another way to allow players to cheat one another, would make RAs a substantial risk, and would make actual close, trusted friendships that much more valuable.

Like/dislike? Tweaks to the idea?

Adding a little social experiment into the formula is interesting :-)

Only problem is the equilibrium would always be same as current in your example. Reason is that there is no gain from being dishonest even if the other player is honest.

You should make it a standard prisoners dilemma if you wanna mix it up.

Example:
Player A is Honest, Player B is Honest; result is same as current RA.
Player A is Honest, Player B is Dishonest; Player A nothing , Player B gains 1 1/2.
Player A is Dishonest, Player B is Dishonest; both players gains 1/4 th.

Dishonest would always yield more in this situation.
