I too pre-ordered from EB. Just received an email to update me that the ship date would be 11/15. I hope this is just some miscommunication!

As always, EBgames.com will not charge your credit card until we ship your order.

IF people that pre-ordered get theirs 2 weeks LATER than when the game appears on the shelves
... nah, they wouldn't DARE!
Just think about it:
When I have a customer who is going to give me his money anyway, why for all in the world should I serve him first????

I would get the come-and-go customer first.. the other one I have for sure.

all this means is that the date has not been made firm yet. 2k has said before Halloween, and the known date before that was 11/15. they cant provide a better date than 11/15 until they know for sure.

Well.... I think you could pretty much say that 10/30 would be a "better date", since it would definately be closer to acurate, given the facts.

Well - with EB anyway - they don't actually get any money until I pick it up. And if they pull some BS and try to give me mine later than everyone else I will cancel the order. It's a $5 penalty since I had it ship to store - but I'm willing to eat it.

And it's also bad business. If treated this way I will take my several hundred dollars per year else where.

I don't mind the delay - so long as I have my copy at the same time as everyone else.

I think everyone is taking this the wrong way, everyone is going to get their copy at the same time, more then likely Take 2 and Firaxis realized that pushing the date up to 10/24 in the first place was a bad idea... so now they are falling back to their guns.

True but 10/30 would still not be a Known date.

Unlikely. The publisher is on the verge of declaring bankruptcy. They can't afford (and neither can Firaxis) to push the date out. Especially when Sid already said the game's going gold this week. There's no way there's going to be a 6 week gold to release lag.

While Take Two had a bad 3rd Quarter due to Hot Coffee, they are not on the verge of bankruptcy. The reason is that they compute their yearly earnings for stock holders on October 31. Any last minute stuff that makes it in this year is better.

Bad third quarter? They've been lieing about their income for years. They have no money. They're mis-managed and the only thing that was keeping them afloat is that no one looked too closely at their accounting records. Take a look at them yourself and you'll see that it's all smoke and mirrors.

The main issue with EB Games potentially delaying pre-order fulfillment beyond on-the-shelf purchases is that I would not be their customer any longer. That would be THEIR loss in addition to my frustration.
Actually, I am confident that EB's signals just got crossed, and that late October will be fully restored (Oct. 24th, plus 1-2 days shipping).

Urederra, you forgot to put the "Don't Panic" in Green, Large, Friendly Lettering.

maybe the case is that their october 24th date was put up incorrectly, since no precise date was confirmed, so they just rolled it back to the last date listed. when they're given an official release date, they'll update it. just a theory.

no one knows when civ 4 will come out. they just keep changing it. who cares when they say it will come out u just gotta wait and see

Gone gold has been down. Does anyone know when the official Civ IV site will be up and running? that should be the best place to get reliable info.

I did take a look and it seems that your statements are baseless. Looking at the quarterly reports, it would seem that their income statements track like a normal cyclical company. If you don't know what that means, go ahead and take a few college accounting classes. I see nothing in their statements that would lead me to believe that their income has been misstated. No SEC investigations, no analyst warnings, so that part of your statement is also untrue.

As for having no money, I would love to have $155 million in my bank account, so I'm sure that they are fine there. The debt to equity ratio isn't bad, so bankruptcy isn't in the near future.

About a week ago, Take Two announced that their third quarter loss was a larger than expected, but they are still showing a profit in the current year.

Check out their financial information as posted on Yahoo.

If I wasn't so heavily weighted in the gaming sector by owning shares of Activision and Electronic Arts, I would consider buying some shares of Take Two. They are currently rated a better stock than EA or Activision.

Before going off and making disturbingly incorrect and inaccurate statements and telling others to check the information, you might want to check that information yourself.
