EDITOR APPEARS!!!... well, almost

Argh!.... My teeth are kind of sore from this bit ::chuckle::

Brad, thank you very much for all the hard work you've been putting into this, especially with everything you've got going on in your life right now.

Now.. if someone could talk someone into correcting a nother port of a Sid Meir classic...... Pirates! Gold. Anyone else experience frequent crashes of that on the Mac II and find out it wouldn't even run on most Power macs or G3's?

Haven't seen much activity in the CivIII Mac forum.......No problems, or is everyone just waiting for the editor?

Briefly, it's a tool to modify many of the game parameters to let you configure it your way. There's an awful lot of info on it on the rest of this site because the PC users have had it from the go (and have been *****ing about it endlessly). The latest patch has a bunch of editor changes so that will probably hold Brad up a bit longer, but it looks like it will be a better product, so I guess the delay is worth it.

Wow! I never realized those asterisks were applied automatically. Will the wonders of technology never cease? :vomit:

Waiting for the editor and the patch. I play Civ III sporadically. The game runs fine on my Mac, so no complaint to post. I am not good enough to brag about my skill, so no posts of that type. I don't know any programming and there is no editor, so I can't even attempt a mod (that's assuming I could find the patience for it). When the editor comes out I do plan to make a Harn map for Civ III.

Brad does a good job and is much more available than I am used to from game designers/employees.

Well, I guess this is long enough to count as a decent reply. Happy Civing

I agree with David. And, I have been playing Brad's OS X version of Alpha Centauri for the past week. Got a bit bored with Civ3 endgames. I do recommend the 'player1mod' available on the Firaxis website if you want a slightly different Civ experience. Battleships and bombers come into their own and the upgrade paths work for both me and the AI--less 'obsolete' units hanging around.

The Editor will allow me to 'tinker' and perhaps adjust some of the units, so that I can get my SAS troops into the endgame. I enjoy using the Privateer and would like the opportunity to use similar units in the Modern Age. The new patch from Firaxis looks great, so there is plenty to look forward to. And then, there's 'Galactic Battlegrounds' later in the year which may fill the SMAC/X void a little bit.

Thanks giefer, i appreciate the feedback...so the patch , in-so-far as the editor , will only work for OS X then ? I have 128 mem and put X on for a bit but it was clumsy working back and forth from "classic" (9) to X.
It would be nice to have a couple of different goverments like Socialism and Facism (CPT 2)( - good for a last ditch effort when losing - ) and maybe create a unit (I was thinking like a flame thrower addition to infantry or tank that would negate fortified status of an enemy defensive unit....) also would like the sub to be able to shoot from a distance.
Spies are not much fun in Civ 3 , I think they should have them as a unit again. Maybe one you can create that looks like a worker in another civ.
