Eli's Civilizations of Africa & The African Diaspora

You should add Gaza as a city state, though(or the CS pack only includes African CS?).

Rough idea cobbled together, inviting others to rip it apart:-

---

Mauritius (Rémy Ollier)
Start Bias: Coastal
Capital: :c5capital: Port Louis
UA: Star And Key
Each time you connect an International Sea Trade Route to a Civilization you haven't traded with before, the amount of :c5gold: Gold generated by International Sea Trade Routes increases by +5%. After an Ideology is selected, gain +1 Great Writer Point in the :c5capital: Capital for every 2 International Sea Trade Routes.
UB: Sentinelle (replaces Constabulary)
-25% enemy Spy stealing rate, +2 :c5culture: Culture, +2 :c5happy: Local Happiness. Contains a slot for a :greatwork: Great Work of Writing which, when filled, generates +1 additional :c5culture: Culture for every Ideological Tenet selected, and +1 :c5happy: Happiness for each Level 3 Tenet selected.
UU: Lights And Grenadiers (replaces Musketman)
Starts with Amphibious, Drill I, Shock I, and the unique promotion "Storming Grand Baie", which grants an additional +50% :c5strength: Combat Bonus while defending if the unit Disembarked the previous turn. Upgrades to Rifleman as normal. Vastly more expensive than the Musketman it replaces.

This is much more focused on the interesting bit of Mauritian history - the Napoleonic wars and their aftermath. Remy Ollier was a truly great man, a campaigning journalist and political activist who died too far before his time, and I'm picking him as a Gandhi-style leader - a man who may not have lead his country, but is a symbol of what Mauritius could be. The newspaper he founded to promote the interests of the non-white populace of Mauritius, the Sentinelle, is immortalised in the UB, and the liberating British force that kicked out the French slavers is reflected in the UU - the primary invading force that stormed the beach at Grand Baie was composed of the elite companies of the redcoat regiments that supported the invasion, namely the Light and Grenadier Companies.

This is my Mauritius.

I apologise for the lack of dodos.

I would prefer Gaza (of Palestine) as legit Civ :)
BTW, Do you want something like this?
beslCb6l.png

That looks really good! I like that. Just needs a little tidying up in the text boxes - maybe make them match the Civ colours a little closer? The yellow on olive drab's a little... much. =]

.. and enlarge the text, like, a lot (or maybe my eyes are just tired from looking at the screen for the past seven hours and that's why I can't see anything)..

I am thinking whether I should outright copy JFD's OP style with background or cross it with Colonialist Legacies as what I had done. It's unpolished for now :) I also struggling to find suiting African motif font that have no Tribal or Safari motif.

EDIT to reply Danmacsch : This would be made larger, but shorten the description would make it a lot easier to read and enlarge
.

You don't really need one. A simple, clear Serif font works well for conveying information in a more formal way. I personally prefer Sylfaen, but really, it's up to you. =]

Well, infographics aren't really that important. They can look nice and all, but in the end they don't really say anything about the quality of the civ in question.
If you choose to have one, I'd say simpler is better. JFD' and More Civ's as well as RawSasquatch's are good examples in my opinion.

I like the setup he has, personally, with the map behind and the infographic boxes. =]

EDIT: Here's the only pic I can find of Ollier. =[

Spoiler :

Thanks to both Scapegrace and Poom! However for Mauritius I am leaning more towards Seewoosagur Ramgoolam because he was Indian (the most populous ethnic group of Mauritius), more well known, more information on him, and also he was considered the "Father of the Nation" of Mauritius. Thanks so much for the design though Scapegrace I will put the rest of it to use! And thanks so much for the infobox Poom! Would you also be interested in doing one for my Sierra Leone, which is the closest one to release?

Also two minor changes to the names of the uniques. The unit's name will be changed to Grenediyarsa, which is the Hindi word for Grenadier and the Sentinelle will be re-named to Santari, which is again the Hindi translation. Because I'm trying to go for a more modern Indian Mauritian style. Thanks again to Scapegrace for the design though!

Well, of course, Sent me finished artwork and consider it's done :)

Another way to convey information of Civ I can think of is to use dynamic font and size in this forum to it's full potential like this,
Spoiler :
Louisiana (Antoine)
Start Bias: Marsh
Capital: New Orleans

UA: Mardi Gras
After your first Golden Age, generate +1 Golden Age point per turn for each turn since your last Golden Age ended. Great People expended within three hexes of the Capital generate a boost of points towards a Golden Age
UU: Krewe (replaces Great Merchant)
May not be expended for a Customs House. However, it may instead be expended for a Doubloon Parade in one of your Cities, which increases its Gold and Tourism output by +50% for ten turns.
UB: Masquerade (replaces Constabulary)
-25% enemy Spy Effectiveness in the City in which it is built. Additionally, Great People are earned +5% faster in all Cities for each Masquerade in the Empire, and Specialists in the City generate +2 Gold.

But it's mean a lot of tag, and putting image can save a paragraph of text which can be a limit to original post when there's a lot of released civ

I like that design.

Yeah, didn't mean to imply it wasn't good; the map behind the text boxes is pretty cool. Still, IMO removing the icons from the text boxes with the unique components, and - as you suggested yourself - changing the background/text colours to the same as the civ colours, would make it much 'cleaner' to look at.

Seems a bit pointless to me, since both uniques are from before Indians started being shipped there as indentured labourers and one is the name of a French-language campaigning newspaper, but hey, it's your party. =]

D'awww, you people see me as good for something :w00t:

I like this song as war theme, and by this song I mean the one that starts right at the beginning and ends roughly at the 3 minutes mark.

This is the best that I could come up with that has some better sound quality. Again it isn't perfection but I figured it has some aesthetic in it due to it being a Bob Marley song and everything.

Well, there's another version of the song in youtube, quality is better in some ways... worse in others.

Edit: I'd also recommend cheking the Reggae Philarmonic Orchestra (which apparently is a thing), I heard a couple songs but didn't have the patience to sift through their whole repertoire, there's gotta be something you'd like there.
