Elohim Guide

Bringing up a zombie thread...

Wouldn't you almost always want to move the Palace to a foreign city as soon as convenient?

I'd pay 160 hammers in a decent production city solely to rid myself of the +20% war weariness from the Elohim palace. There are few that are just irresistible:

Lanun - +1 food on all water
Infernal - No war weariness, +1:science:/1:culture:/1:gold: from religious buildings, and +50% hammers. More than worth the loss of a mana for iron.
Sidar - bonuses to all specialists

The only ones I can think of that I might not do it with are Kuriotates, Chirp, Ljos and Malakim. Kuriotates have the same weariness penalty and the bonus health isn't all that important. The others have a +10% war weariness penalty. I'd probably still make the switch for those 4, but it would be a much lower priority.

You can build another civ's palace. You lose your own Elohim Palace doing so, however you can simply rebuild it and still keep the other civ's palace. Consequently you can a 2nd palace, with the extra palace mana and reduced maintenance cost that entails. As far as I can tell, you can only have 2 palaces at once.
Is this still true? I never actually gave it a try, this is the first time I read anything about it. I was aware of the possibility of building other civ's palaces, but I didn't know you could get 2 palaces at once (and presumably you can get a Forbidden palace on top of that too).

I can't help but find it ironic that the Tolerant trait makes me want to play the "peaceful" Elohim very aggressively.

Also, since on the previous pages there was a bit of a leader vs. leader debate going, I always go for Logos. I like to bulb that early Prophet for a quick RoK (usually managing to get it in my Capital), although I'm starting to wonder if I should try an early Warrior Rush with Ethne sometime... as I said, Tolerant makes me rather intolerant :mischief:

Whenever I get mysticism early I start manually researching RoK immediately after. Tends to take a bit under 20 turns, shorter than it would take for Einion to build a pagan temple and run the priest it allows for 17 turns. GP goes to the shrine, which I'm not in that huge a hurry to complete since it takes a few turns for your religion to really spread. Basically if I build the temple and run the priest ASAP, I get the GP fast enough without philosophical.

Won my first game using this strat for towers. thanks.

Sanctuary is really a life saver, on my current game, I got dow from Os-Gabella & she came with huge stacks of pyre zombies, which I wasn't ready to counter, so sanctuary saved my butt. Then revenge came sometime later with a bunch of vampires & lots of suicidal skeletons. If you get to conquer nice cities from nice civs, you're in for a lot of fun. Btw, do planar gates work as elohim?
