I am trying one last time to start an SG. EM1 had too many drops, EM2 suffered from (my) computer problems.
Regent, England, Sparse Archipelago.
Cold, Wet, 3Billion, 4 civs on normal map.
The idea is to delay contact.

I will start the game, just join until we have 6.
10 turns, this will involve loads of infra.

If we are on the same landmass as someone else...

4000 BC: Holy COW- I picked cold and wet. We start next to a Cow and 2 furs! 3 bonus grassland in range. Research goal: Writing@min science.
3850 BC: Our scout spots Ivory.
3800 BC: Worker builds road, starts mine.
3750 BC: London builds warrior, starts settler.
3650 BC: Gold spotted.
3550 BC: Contact with Russia.
3500 BC: Erik I is assassinated by the Russians.

Key to dotmap: Red dot is best place to send settler. DOnt worry about overlap.
We can build Orange, OR both the yellows.
Hope for a city location in the greens.
Not quite sure about blue, but these 2 spots are the best.

I'll play.

Got the file. Loading up now.

Will post results soon as finished.

(1) 3450BC. Scout moves north to scout out Russians. Worker begins building road to get Furs into London. Warrior Moves south through jungle exploring for fertile land.

(2) 3400BC. More Scouting/Exploring our Island shared with the EVIL russians.

(3) 3350BC. Scout finds capital city of Moscow of the EVIL russians. Warrior traverses the treacherous mountains.

(4) 3300BC. A group of brave men decide to depart from London and settle new lands. They begin to travel northward towards the mysterious "red dot" land rumored to have a fountain of youth. London is instructed to build another warrior.

(5) 3250BC. We have discovered some dyes in the south below the jungle. Settler continues to move north. More exploring.

(6) 3200BC. More exploring. We are not alone....

(7) 3150BC. Fur is not murder in London! We now have 1 fur making the masses happy in our Capital. Worker moved to connect other luxery of fur. More Exploring.

(8) 3100BC. Warrior produced in London, and is instructed to explore. Another settler is qued up for prod. We look around some more. Road work begins to connect more furs. The wonder red dot land has been reached and in honor of their king, "Ozmodiarville" is founded. Production on a warrior is beggining in Ozmodiarville. We also find some gold in the south.

(9) 3050BC. The people love their king! And they choose to expand my palace! I choose the floor as I hate walking on dirt. We continue work/exploration.

(10) 3000BC. Ditto. However the great king Ozmodiar is dead and London is in mourning. Apparently he was killed in Ozmodiarville by a deranged fan of his. Thus is the price of stardom.

All is well. We should expand northward first, rub out the Russians, and grab the land to the south. The jungle sucks but it worth the time investment to clear it. There are quite a few nice spots in the south so we may have ANOTHER civ on this isle with us.

Here is the save. Good Luck to the next in line.

(1) 2950BC. London population increased. scout move eastward south of moscow. 2 brave warriors continue their exploration of the south.

(2) 2900BC. nothing new, keep moving...

(3) 2850BC. warrior trained at Ozmodiarville, send northeastward to explore the "green area". able to support 3 more units, Ozmodiarville continue expanding our military strength.

(4) 2800BC. worker completed the road bring more furs home, worker proceed into the plains. scout report that the russian are at the edge of the land (our general suggest that it would do us well to trap them and blocking their expansion southward with 2 warrior! :D )

(5) 2750BC. scout report than the russian founded St. Pertersburg northwest of Moscow, their worker are observed to be cutting down tree just outside moscow. our brave warrior report sighting of a blue border south of his position. worker started building a road on the plains.

(6) 2710BC. our brave warrior have reach the border of "THE GERMAN" our other warrior have nothing interesting to report except of a area of desert to our south.

(7) 2670BC. Ozmodiarville population increased. scout ended his vist on the russian (the russian were annoy with us for sending him near moscow). the brave warrior travel westward by the edge of the german border.

(8) 2630BC. Ozmodiarville trained another warrior, send upward to block russian expansion. worker completed building a road from the forest of london to the plains, and is now heading into the forest of Ozmodiarville. our brave warrior spotted german town of leipzig west of the first city and is well position by the coast (with 2 wines still unconnection). London labour told to grow more food as settler still can't be produced.

(9) 2590BC. worker start laying a road in the forest of Ozmodiarville, in the hope to connect the 2 cities. scout told to guard at a point which can be used to block russian expansion, the 2 warrior at the north are en route to the mountainous guard point. our warrior report 2 incense at the desert to our south.

(10) 2550BC. Settler FINALLY produced in London, moving northward to the plains. Ozmodiarville trained yet another warrior.

diplomatic check. German have Warrior code and Iron Working (they don't have our Pottery and alphabet) and 10 piece of gold. Russian have Warrior code and 3 piece of gold. both are annoy with us, we have 130gold and 5 warrior.

The good: Ozmodiar and akinkhoo joined, thanks!

OPEN SLOT.
OPEN SLOT.

The game is not an open game.

Bad: The russians AND germans existing on our continent.
Ugly: With 4 civs on normal map, 3 are on our continent!! :yell:  :aargh: :aargh3: !

Only one thing to do... :soldier: , unless someone does :suicide: .

Inherited turn: Change to Granary in London. Build this, then let the city crank settlers. Having a granary saves a HUGE *20* food on every settler. Food and shields are largely interchangeable in Civ 3 -- after 3 settlers, the granary has paid for itself.

Why in the world do we have warriors exploring? We can build scouts! Expansionist civs never get barbarians from huts, so that isn't a worry.

I go ahead and buy Iron Working from Germany for Alphabet + 60 gold, to trade to Russia for Warrior Code. It's a two-for-one deal for us, and we'd really like to see where the iron is. Remember that cash is useless in despotism except for trading, so we may as well use it to trade.

The plains to the north are low priority. Why? They can't be irrigated anywhere at all before Electricity. No city in that area could grow larger than size 2 without building a harbor!

Nothing really worthy to report on a turn by turn basis. We researched Writing. I move two warriors to block Russia from leaving their area at all. They're fortified on mountains, meaning they have the advantage if attacked by archers, and Russia has no iron for swords. DO NOT MOVE THESE WARRIORS, and don't trade them Writing or Map Making, and we've basically taken a civ out of the game already. I do trade Pottery to Germany for Ceremonial Burial, turn around and trade that to Russia for Masonry, then turn around and trade THAT back to Germany for 80 gold.

I poprushed the granary in London, and I'd suggest doing the same in Osmodiarville when it gets within 20 shields in another 4 turns. Both will pay back for themselves very quickly, I assure you.

I moved the settler south through the jungle, but can't decide what to do with him: there's an iron, a cow, and incense all waiting to be claimed. Next leader!

I am closing the last open spot now. Ive got it.

:soldier: !
Erik II inherits the game on 2070 BC. T-Hawk, that seems to have been a bit too much. I thoguht you were supposed to end 2150. Also, there are unmoved units.
1-2030. London builds granary. York founded.
2-1990. Nothing happens.
3-1870. Nothing happens.
4-1830. Nothing interesting.
5-1790. London builds settler.
6-1750. Ozmodiarville builds granary, I did not whip it.
7-1725. Move units.
8-1700. Nothing interesting.
9-1675. York builds a worker! Clear that jungle!
10-1650. I attack the germans and autoraze hamburg. Russia is virtually dead from the blockade, or they should be, only they have 2 wheat and some game there. Lets destroy the Germans too.

York claimed the cattle and whale. Send the settler down, you can make a city that is coastal, has a cow, and has incense.

It was on 2510 when I got it.. ten turns after that is 2110, and then I brain-hiccuped and clicked on the turn button instead of saving, so I left it at ten-turns-plus-one-upkeep with units unmoved in 2070. No harm done.

War with Germany? A gambit that didn't need to be done yet, but it might turn out well. Russia isn't dead forever - eventually they'll declare war or get Map Making - but they will be behind for quite a while.

i don't build explorer if i meet civ early....
warrior provided military strength...
the other civ respect us more.... :D

i feel that we have already isolated the russian.....
and it shouldn't be hard to remove them....
we can also milk them like cows for some money....

since we are still roomies, let just expand for now.....
with the german in pain, russian in exile.....
we got just 1 more rival....

:egypt:

BTW, is it my turn yet? :scan:

Ozmodiar is up, akinkhoo is on deck.

Ozmodiar need to take a turn here. If he doesnt grab it 36 hours after T-Hawk's post, take it.

Hmmm. Getting errors loadin the save. Post it as .zip , should work then.
