Embassy / Civ Contact Mechanic

I think the redding out is more to do with what they won't trade with you - they may well be trading Tech with other AI nations

If you were to be able to 'red out' negotiation options, it'd have to civ/allegiance/religion-definable. For example it may well be that whilst you don't trust some AI nations, you may still be happy with open borders agreement with neighbours who you share a religion with and/or would like to convert to the cause

The problem with a human redding things out is we can abuse it. For example make everything red and the AI can't make demands/ask for help. Then just "unred" it when you want to trade something.

rlaf I told you what file and function the code goes in... but I won't explain how to compile the SDK. There's already a tutorial for that.
Some of your comments I've read indicate that you know how to program. If you do not then you really shouldn't be making comments about whether something is a good idea or not from a coding perspective.

Actually, I've always imagined good ol' scrying pools, crystal balls, and other such mystical hoodoo as being the preferred mode of communication between leaders in FfH...

I've always pictured it that way, but it's not really a good thing.

You know how elves are always good at fighting, because they have centuries with which to perfect their skills? Well, I imagine Faeryl has prank called Arendel at least six times a day over the past four hundred years. By now, not even the gods can equal Arendel and Faeryl's skill at screaming insults and curse words at each other over the aether.

LOL! That's hilarious.

I don't think so. Arendal is too kind (edit:or at least polite) to behave so childishly, and I'm Faeryl could find a more subtle and effective way to get on Arendal's nerves.

Arendal is too kind

This is Fall from Heaven. If the worst that can be said about Arendel is that she tells her worst enemy that she dresses like a cheap trollop, then she's got my vote for the "Best Person to Ever Live" award.

True. However, if it came down to a choice between 1) calling Arendel a vile cow or 2) NOT calling Arendel a vile cow, than I can't see Faeryl passing it up, either.

If I were Faeryl, I'd have sent an assassin to kill her while the Unseelie Court was reigning. Then, I'd dissolve the Seelie Court while there was no one to oppose me.

If you were Faeryl, you'd already have twelve assassins loyal to you residing in every leaders palace. ;)

I'd really like to have embassy contact, even as a modmod. I believe laod time between turns is decreased with the less civs you are in contact with, as well as making an interesting mechanic to stop late game tedium.

In addition to embassies giving contact, perhaps they could give a small chance for units to build units of the embassies race. This means a champion you build in a city with a Ljosalfar embassy could be an elf, who has sworn allegiance to your corwn.
