This is an auspicious day. Our intrepid explorer Jenny and her crew rounded a point and saw your ship, the Ganges, off in the distance. The sight of another ship filled a deep space inside the crew members' hearts that had been growing since leaving their friends and families back in The AMAZON. They then sent word back to the homeland where the news was met with vigorous celebration and fireworks.

Jenny is on a mission of exploration, to go where no Zenobian has gone before, and has been traveling for the last 840 years (since Turn 28). Our people are eager to know how far the USS Ganges has traveled from the Continuum exploring and if you have met any other sentient races.

Our people are impressed by the religious power of your Stonehenge, although we had hoped to be the ones to be impressing you with it when we met. Indeed the legendary powers of the Q are wondrous to behold, and no doubt served you well in your quest for Stonehenge. We do not begrudge your success, as we are impressed with a people who were able to succeed where we could not. Hopefully, our peoples will be able to co-operate in our future goals so that we never again make the mistake of seeking to do what the powerful Q are able to do with a simple flick of the wrist.

The AMAZON would like to enter into preliminary negotiations with the Continuum and discuss a potential for Open Borders, a possible Non-Aggression Pact and the potential for future tech trades.

The glaring difference is that your actions and attitude are what led to my objections. What have I said or done that shows I wouldn't be a suitable diplomat for the Amazons?

I think I can land these quite well, I forged alliances with Sommers in other games, and I am quite certain I can build the needed trust here, unlike the Merlot case.

I'm actually confused about this statement - was there anything previous about Sommerswerd that's troublesome, or is this just based on his playstyle and not any specific incident in the past? I'm ok with either of you as diplomats, I'm sure our entire team will be in support of whatever we all decide for diplomacy as we move forward. But since in the last Demogame specifically (I was on another team and wasn't involved in much diplo anyway), and maybe in some other situations, I don't really know the whole case that's being made, let's try to keep level heads. Remember also these other teams aren't all just run by one guy (could be the problem with MERLOT) - all the other new AMAZONS I'm sure have nothing against us even if Sommerswerd has some problems for some reason.

In fact, we should note that it appears they have named SilentConfusion as their full-time diplomat to us.

For other matters, I wanted a screenshot of exactly where this is going on, and to check they are telling the truth, so:

Important things to take away - AMAZONs have not met anyone else that we know of, they put espionage on us, so maybe they did not go meet their other neighbors yet. They will undoubtedly meet Mavericks very soon though, obviously we should tell them that.

AMAZONs seem solid/middle of the road in technology, population, etc... - as expected they are one of the 6 population capitals, they might have a second city at pop 2 or 3. The complaints about Stonehenge are funny and suggest they could have wasted hammers on that though. I'm going to say for the record here as it won't come out/I'll forget by the end of the game but I am lol'ing if they missed Stonehenge in a race to us, especially since we built it 2 turns later than our fastest course (iirc, because we were debating what to do and spent extra time on the second WB, rather than fastest SH from the very start.) Don't know exactly what they teched of course, but they didn't go too far on the religious path either I guess.

Personally, I am really, really liking the idea of Vikings + AMAZONs + ourselves in a long term alliance. Vikings get to go rage against MERLOT, who could be very annoying to everyone in general, and we and AMAZONs should be able to handle India down the line, leaving a solid alliance all the way round. Still, as we are teching Alphabet we are open to trade with anyone in the short term.

For what I would say in the next message - possibly we tell them about heading towards Alphabet, we've certainly met them later in the game than we met other teams, and are already on the way there. I'd also do the standard lines about the "islands" people are on, and the resources we have/ask what they have. I'm guessing they might be the ones with corn, nobody yet has corn I don't think unless I'm forgetting.

We too are on a mission of exploration and one of our primary objectives was to make contact with your team. The reputation of the Amazons is well known across the universe. Yours is a team of accomplished players with a fun attitude and outlook. Just the kind of people we want to meet. We are hoping to establish warm and beneficial relations that will lead to a lasting friendship.

To answer your questions: the Ganges has been sailing for the past 28 turns as well, and yes she has made contact with another sentient race. If you continue on your present course you will reach the lands of the Mavericks shortly. How about you guys, do you have contacts with any other teams?

As to cooperation between our two teams- we think this is an excellent idea. Open borders, resource trades, a NAP and of course tech trades would be awesome. We have an abundance of hearty wheat and luxurious silver. We also have some exotic spices in our lands that we hope to harvest one day.

Regarding the NAP, how bout we do an initial one until turn 100 with the possibility for renewal?

Techwise we are on the way to Alphabet. What tech paths are the Amazons persuing? It would be great to coordinate research in anticipation of some profitable trades.

Yes it is a shame that there was a duplication of effort with Stonehenge. But the silver lining is that you made some early gold. Without goody huts that can be a very good thing. We agree that avoiding future duplications of effort would be desirable.

Oh and we go by many names: Team Quatronia, The Continuum or just plain Q. Feel free to use whichever one you like.

And for the record I get along great with Sommerswerd and Damnrunner from the Amazons. They are both really sharp players and I had blast working with them in the last MTDG. With all due respect to Provo, his post seems to be just sour grapes.

This is a great message, like the humor, all the things we want to get across are there - current year is 2000 BC right now, and as for when the Ganges set sail, I'll look that up momentarily.

It was turn 22, 3120 BC. Obviously our first boat, if we say something to those lines, though not sure we should imply too much about a second

I might inform them they are about to meet India though, it happens in 3-4 turns anyway, and just so they are prepared. Especially if we are going to want to be working with them behind India's back (or simply ignoring India) in the future, not laying that out their yet, but just so they know we're ready to honestly deal with them.

Very good message, but NOT give any hint about a 2nd boat, as its critical we get to handle the double deal with Alphabet, and land as many as we can get before its resolved.

Would you guys be able to agree on one of you taking Amazon and one of you taking Sirius? With the possible future situation Earthling mentioned, they would be the wild card.

They mentioned stuff like IM and skype for diplomacy, but I'd prefer sticking to the team email, especially with Amazon. We'll need to work together to craft good messages for them, like with other teams. Hopefully they don't get too impatient.

Also, a note on their exploration- they said they've had a boat out for nearly as long as we have, but it seems they haven't met anyone. Maybe the map isn't that symmetric. Already I can see that the bays of Mavericks and CDZ are bigger than ours, if you look at a recent minimap, you'll see that the angles between peninsulas are different.

I agree that we should definitely stick to just emails for now. Absolutely no instant messaging with other teams until the diplo situation becomes much more clear and we know who we are partnering with.

About their exploration and the map: I was thinking the same thing looking at the mini-map- It doesn't seem to be perfectly symmetric. But I don't think it's so horribly unbalanced that they have been searching for 28 turns and haven't met anyone. I think they have met someone else and it is possible there is a team between them and Mavericks.

We are very happy that we have found each other. It seems we each went a long way to do it. You have gone past the Mavericks and we have sailed past Team Sirius to find you. We want you to know that we think vrey highly of your team as well and would be more than happy to start working together immediately.

We have met Team Sirius who is our neighbor. The Ganges should be able to see their border in about 9 turns. We are on the other side of that. I think we have met extremely soon for people on opposite ends of the world. We have not met Team Merlot yet, although we can see the edge of their borders this turn. They are on the other side of us. CDZ, then, must be between you and House Merlot.

It is clear the map is star-shaped and it is postulated that there may be water channels leading through the center of the star. Can you confirm or deny this? We are apparently on opposite ends with two civilizations between us on both sides. There is a large number of Clams surrounding this star and so far it seems that this world is very symmetrical.

Our own island also has Silver. We also have an abundance of Sheep, Deer, and things to make Fur out of.

We would like to get an Exclusive Tech Trading Alliance set up. We would consider you a top candidate for this Alliance. If we can get this worked out quickly we can start optimizing our teching plans. We would like to organize at least a three-team alliance and preferably a four-team one. This would ensure us an edge over our competitors. Our researchers are expending their efforts towards Monarchy. We are currently developing Monotheism trying to follow your religious example.

We would like to suggest we open borders as soon as this becomes possible.

We gladly accept your proposed NAP until turn 100. We are also willing to consider a longer term NAP between The Continuum and The AMAZON as we believe that securing peace between our nations is important to the spirit of cooperation which we seek to foster in the relationship between our teams.

2.1. New members may be added by unanimous agreement of all current members.

Very interesting; they've confirmed everything we know about the map for certain, since they are opposite us. They've obviously done the most exploring, next to us. We now know that we will have met everyone in about 9 turns. We should probably confirm everything about the map they've said.

As for their very detailed treaty they've written, I like this idea AFTER we initially get alphabet and make trades with potentially all 5 teams. We would need to convince them that that would be beneficial to them however. If we don't agree to it we could be stuck out in the cold with a Mavericks/Sirius/Amazon deal.

Given this statement I'd be awfully willing to go with Amazons now -remember, if say we swindle MERLOT or Mavericks out a tech, we could maybe still share it with the Amazons. But I'll say those thoughts in the appropriate other thread at least, best to discuss a long term alliance there rather than in just a single team's embassy.

I do like the agreement in general, indeed, it's about the only thing possible given the game we're in (I'll try to make this the last time I snidely complain about tech trading, but I did want tech trading off.) We need to be in the group of 3-4 teams that is trading with each other - we can't afford to be the teams left out and let some other block form.

They also confirmed duplicates of silver, which means duplicates of gold and gems should be out there, but anyway that's not a huge deal. Still, the central continent probably very sparse on resources in general.

I'm not sure when we are getting alphabet, but if it is >10, then we should immediately join, but <10, we could just trade with the other teams, then join the ETTA.

I would go with the Amazons, and we all agree the Merlot has to go down the drain, for a multitude of reasons, but also for gameplay reasons. That I have an issue with Indie, is merely a collateral bonus I enjoy, but please dont underestimate my strategy in this.

I support more or less the deal with the Amazons, except I want to highwire Alphabet.
