Let's start a Emperor Training SG,with two slots for trainer and four for trainee.

Map Size:Standard
Land type:Continent 70% water
Civ:India
Geology and Climate:Random
Opps:7 Random
Barbs:Random
AI Aggression:Normal
Using LKendter Rules(Thanks LK)

LKendter said:
The following tactics are PROHIBITED:

RoP Rape - if you have to ask...

RoP Abuse that includes things such as irrigating all tiles with a city building wonders, denying resources with a RoP, putting a unit to block a land bridge, etc.

Scout resource denial - parking a scout on a resource, as the AI won't ask scouts to leave. The same scenario also applies to workers.

False Peace Treaties (must wait for the 20 years to end).

The negative science exploit - you can run a huge deficit (-250 / turn) of negative cash with a token penalty of one lost worker / cheap building. If cash will go below zero, the research level must be dropped.

Ship chaining exploit - you can move a ship, unload troops to another ship, move that ship, etc. This allows you to ship an indefinite distance, and that is why I consider it an exploit.

Resources disconnect / connect exploit - I consider most resource tactics fine. Delaying to hook a resource, trading it away etc is fine. The exploit is to do this every turn. Build a stack of horses, connect saltpeter, upgrade to cavalry, and disconnect.

Palace Jump - You abandon the capital city to move the palace to a new location. If you want to move the palace, build a new palace.

Standard LK house rules:
1) Worker automation of any kind is prohibited.
2) No worker purchases during the first 50 turns to avoid civ crippling.
3) Declaring war / demanding leave solely for the purpose of getting out of trade deals. This includes nonsense spying simply to force a war. Stealing techs is fine.
4) Even if not covered under exploits listed, please try not to use tactics that take advantage of holes in the game design.
5) Our trading reputation is golden - please respect it.
6) Complete your turn. It is frustrating to get a 1/2 completed turn.

My preference:Trainee must beat Monarch Epic ONCE
Trainers should be DG or Diety level players, perhaps all busy at other SG.

Wanna wear the imperial crown for the first time?Join.
Wanna teach young emperor how to rule the empire?Join.

Edit:On C3C 1.22f,won 1525AD,domination.

I'm already running 2 Monarch training SGs, and recently lurked a lot in another one.
No, by no means I'm able to join another one, but 2 suggestions:
1) Regardless of the initial response, pick a standard size map instead of large. You'll learn the most in the first half of the game, and here standard makes no difference. But the endgame on 'Large' may get tedious.
Note quite a number of trainees (and even trainers, for different -but better- reasons) tends to drop out.
2) Pick a rarely played Civ, to attract Lurkers - India, Mongols, Spain, Rome come to mind.

Thanks,DocT for your kind comments.I'm thinking of a small or standard start, making the game sweet and sound. For the 2nd suggestion,I think we can pick Carthage or Portugal, both are rare. But India makes more sense--it can build Knight UU with no resource

I'm not DocT but would be glad to help out.

Subscribing...because I need to catch up with someone on here. (@Brother Bede :wavey: )

Not a sign up ... trying to make a comeback here.

I'll sign up (as a trainee)! Doc had good ideas, I don't think I've ever played as Spain or the Mongols, Standard size map seems more manageable. Portugal isn't played much as far as I know and I haven't played as them either. Keep in mind with India that in C3C the War Elephant has an additional health point.
Edit: Yay! Scout is back!

Count me in as a Trainee, if you'll have me (this will also be my first SG).

Neil.

I think we can choose India, religious for revolution, commercial for Alphabet and Republic Slingshot.UU for bad luck on resource,Wonderful!

Been a while since I had a ride in a howdah. Sounds like fun. Imperial India here we come.

What about yokels (barbarians)?

The picture isn't showing, but it works when I tried.

5 BG!! I'm thinking worker east (will want to work the first BG anyway and can explore too) then settler 1 SW (so that we don't settle on a BG and can use all 5) unless we see something good.

Hey,Viper, that was quick! You see the picture faster than I am!
5 BG?I didn't check,is it down the settler's feet?
If it is,I also suggest moving SE to prevent wasting a shield of BG.
Damn we have no cows or wheats or wines :(
And ,can I play 15 turns now?

Two things make this an interesting start: no food bonus and no visible luxuries, but it is certainly worth playing.

@viper,
Did you mean SE?, the graphics aren't clear.

I shamlessly cribbed DocT's starting questions for us to ponder:
1) Who are our opponents?
2) Which units to move first, and where?
3) After founding: How should the Governor be set?
4) What to research first?
5) What to build first?

Starting tonight would be great. (I''m GMT-5, BTW)

As a way for everybody to get their feet wet in the Ganges, everybody play twenty, post a log and save for discussion, then pick the save to continue on with.

@viper,
Did you mean SE?, the graphics aren't clear.

I shamlessly cribbed DocT's starting questions for us to ponder:
1) Who are our opponents?

F10 to check.

2) Which units to move first, and where?

Worker NE. Reasons:
- It'll show up any possible food bonuses & luxes in that direction, before we settle.
- We're working that square first anyway. It's next to the forest, which we'll probably want to chop after mining and roading the BG.
- We don't want to move the Worker to the side of the river Delhi won't be on - it'll waste worker turns moving back through the city, even after the square is roaded.
- Unless the Worker shows up something interesting, settle on the spot.

3) After founding: How should the Governor be set?

Emphasize production. So we work the best production square on growth, usually essential in Settler factories.

4) What to research first?

Pottery (max), then start on Writing->CoL->Phil->Rep for free (all at max). From what I gather, it's possible at Emperor.... If at any point it looks like failing, cut to min/zero research and trade.

5) What to build first?

Warrior (scouting), Warrior (MP), Temple (pre-build for Granary)

Starting tonight would be great. (I''m GMT-5, BTW)

As a way for everybody to get their feet wet in the Ganges, everybody play twenty, post a log and save for discussion, then pick the save to continue on with.

I'll try to put 20 turns together tomorrow morning.
