In order to keep a good record of our history, I made this to show how we were for this last term. I think that it is important that, since I am ambassidor to C3B, that I tell you what has happened.

Emp. Napoleon’s Relations with Civ3Brasil Report
Term 3
Relations with Civ3Brasil
C3B Important People:
President: Bremp
Minister of Foreign Affairs: JokerDF
Ambassador (first): Silverwolf
Ambassador (second): Krasan

The Worker Crisis:

At the start of this term we were at a low point in our relationship with C3B. Many of us were considering stopping negotiations with C3B due to a unfair deal they proposed. These deals were mainly about borders. Our proposal was a fair treaty that was equal distance from both of our capitals. Civ3Brasil’s citizens wanted a border more south, therefore giving us less land, and wanted a worker donated to them to make up the time C3B’s warrior lost while we blocked him at the entrance to our lands. With the memories of a conflict just the last term about letting C3B have a warrior explore in our land many of Fanatica’s citizens were a little bias.

During this crisis about borders, Emp. Napoleon, the best ambassador ever, was able to talk to JokerDF about that recent unfair proposal. JokerDF said that it was just a C3B citizen’s idea. When many of the citizen’s of Fanatica heard this it only fueled the fire. Though now there were more ideas on the table. Some more radical citizens wanted to stop negotiations at once and demand that they stop making such unfair proposals. Some other citizens want just an apology, and others wanted for us just to tell them that we rejected the ideas.

Thanks to Cheetah, a distinguished citizen of Fanatica, some of the heat from this deal was toned down. He was able to get Fanatica on the right track with C3B. After a little talk with JokerDF, everything was cleared up.

Alliance:

After this worker crisis Emp. Napoleon asked C3B is they would like to make a “super treaty.” JokerDF made a schedule and started the process. This treaty would include a mutual protection pact, free trade, no secrets, free exploration, a Demilitarized Zone, and fair borders. This was Donavon Zio’s idea in the start.

Most of this treaty was accepted by both nations. The mutual protection pact though would only be activated if a nation were attacked, not if one party started the war. The one part that that did not pass was the border and the DMZ. Fanatica’s citizens wanted to wait until we had explored the northern part of our continent. This way some citizens thought we could get a better deal with borders. The DMZ was hotly debated and many of Fanatica’s citizens did not want it.

Even without a clear border we still had a good alliance. The last part of this alliance is the part about the tech deal. It would include that CFC and C3B will work together on scientific research. We will research different things and trade all of our techs. This way that when the time comes where we have to go to war with another nation, we will have a technological advantage.

Statue of Zeus:

Ivory was found at turn 13, and everyone knew that is would change Fanatica forever. With ivory we would be able to build that Statue of Zeus. This would give us a Ancient Calvary, which is one of the most powerful units in the game during the ancient times, and even into the medieval times. It would only be outdated by cavalry, which is at the very end of the middle ages.

This was very important to the Fanatican people. Since C3B was Persia, they also had a very powerful unit, the immortal. In a war we would probably cancel each other out. Donovan Zoi, former Minister of Internal Affairs proposed in Term 2 that C3B and CFC ally so that our two great units will easily be able to take down two nations, so that we can advance to the finals. This would, of course, telling C3B about the Statue of Zeus, and some citizens feared that that would make C3B declare war and we would see immortals in our cities.

The lack of iron only added to this fear. Without iron we could not build swordsmen. It was soon decided, that for at lest now, we would not let C3B know of our lack of iron or ivory. Some fought this though, like Cheetah, Donovan Zoi, and Emp. Napoleon. They wanted a no secrets relationship with C3B, and supported the plan Donovan Zoi had made.

After JokerDF proposed the super alliance, one of the days was scheduled for talk about wonders. After much debate it was decided that we would tell C3B about our intentions. After we did, C3B did not declare war, and had more respect for us. After this the whole treaty process went faster, now that we did not have to worry about keeping the secret.

Exploration and Borders

Within the great alliance we were making we were able to make sure that we would be able to explore each other’s lands with one warrior. This way we would not have to use a worker to explore and have another warrior protect them. One reason why this was a big issue was that we wanted to get borders down, and we wanted a fair deal.

Getting borders down was hard, and was never completed in this term. CFC’s citizens always wanted to wait longer for more exploration, while C3B wanted to get it done quickly. After we started to explore borders came up again, and CFC’s citizens once again shot it down. Since exploration is finally getting done, we can expect borders by the end of the next term.

Conclusion

This alliance is very important to both of our nations. With the new threat of an alliance on the other side of the world it will be very important. If we can keep this alliance in tact we will have a very good chance to go to the finals, and with a good ally. Therefore, I ask all citizens of CFC to work in cooperation with C3B, for all of our sakes.

Excellent recap, but here;s one thing I got out of this:

I should keep in mind Donovan Zoi, Cheetah, and Emp. Napoleon are interested in sharing all our secrets in the face of a potential rival who gives us outragious demands while many of our elected leaders are trying to be fair (a compromise between unfair and fair is unfair).

Of course going for fairness without compromise is different, and a lot better. However one must remember is that we want a CFC... advantage!

Now read the rest of the story. I wonder how solid our relationship would be had my advice been heeded sooner.

I can't believe there are still some that think I was a sellout to C3B. I always upheld the will of the Fanatican people, even when it was to their own detriment.

Me too, I thought you were one of the best Minister of Interal Affairs ever, and all of that border stuff and the SoZ stuff coming out helped us. If had not told them it, it would mean certain defeat.

I'm still thinking that C3B guys are hiding something. They have not decided yet IMO but when and if Vikings are eliminated, they can try to bring us down. It might be their "secret alternative protocol".

Hence, we should strengthen our military powers. And be always alert regarding C3B. But trust them we must. It is better to be stupid and trust than to be intelligent, sneaky, and break the deals. As it stands now and in the future, we might be doing OK with military and would not become an easy catch for them. So, it is even better to play stupid, honor the deals, trust them 100% but be intelligent enough to be ready to defend our country be it C3B or any other team. Any team which would underestimate the CFC will make a dear and costly mistake.

Donovan, I don't feel you sold us out. However I do resent how Emp. Napolean catagorizes me as a radical and you three as the team's saviors. You three have been excellent team players that have contributed massively, but at a time when they were offering us very offensive deals, you three were the real radicals vying for a more open relationship.

Due to far better playing skills than in the last game, we have put ourselves in a position where we were strong enough to announce our intentions to them and not greatly feel reprisal (which was during either DZ or Cheetah's term to acknowledge why that was the case.)

In my mind, it was a good thing that c3b heard of how upset and angry our citizenry got at their proposals. It showed that we weren't weak spined and such. If we had politely refused the worst of things, but gone along like nothing had happened, then diplomatically they'd be on the offensive.

I guess it boils down to how we as a body contributed conflicting emotions on the matter, making a fleshed out and strong... (trying to find the word) that made the situation as good as it is now, and not just those on the team friendly to c3b.

Well, this is my work on C3B, so it is bias a little, but if you feal misrepresented then tell me where I did.

I still say nuke 'em. Taking them out gives us more territory. Cores... Bah! I don't trust them. We would develop better without them, as we could settle further. They ARE going to use their UU, and it would be best not to use it on a foreign continent but on their home continent.

C3B would never invade us, for many reasons. Yes, it would be in their best interests too, but they are inexperianced at ISDGs so I do not think they will. And with the threat of another alliance, it would slow them down and they definantly lose a inter-contental war.

One part confused me:

Are these contradictory? Or was the super treaty different from the super alliance? Other than that, I liked your report. We should do this every term with every ambassador.

Sorry, about that, it was more of a mutual agreement. I will do this every term if you would like, and every ambassidor, and maybe other ministries, should do some kind of report.

Zarn, are you playing devil's advocate?

We are far too nice, and we should crush them just for having Persia as their civ. Persian players are suppose to be attackers in the ancient era. So it's either...

1) We crush them, because they they will use their immortals against us.

or

2) We crush them, because they won't (that means they don't understand that Persia is suppose to be attacking the nearest civ with immortals). Which also means we could easily win.

Besides, I want their territory to be in our hands. We cannot become powerful, with them in the way.

2) Many do, that is what the opposing party wants, and that is why we need to keep the Buzunca Moderate Party in power.

War is far more fun. We should head for Feudalism or switch to Monarchy, raise an army, invade, build an FP. Invoke fear to other civs.
