Dedicated Mac-head since 1985...

When the game is completed (i.e. you reach 2050 etc)...do you have the option to continue the game in-place?

I'm on a planet with 2 big continents and my foes are just simply too far away to mount a practical amphib campaign.

I basically want to fortify by borders and maintain my defense fleet.

Since you can continue a game after winning prior to 2050, I assume you can choose to continue after a timed victory as well.

thanks...

It's just not practical to mount a long campaign to go after the rival civs on the big continent far away...I already trashed the one neighbor that was giving me grief on my home continent...besides, he was parked on the only coal deposits anywhere near my SOI...ahh how fiction duplicates life!

You get a choice if you want to continue, or just wanna quit. Your score is based on the points in 2050.
I had once a time victory when my spaceship wasn't complete until 2053.

I think it's wrong to try for a domination/conquest victory with a continent that far away, as you will get some problems with the supply of new Armor and Artillery?

agreed....you really have to consider the geography of the planet you are playing on to dictate your future strategy down the road.

Never underestimate the importance of a good defense fleet...I basically parked a bunch of frigates, galleons and then later destroyers all along the opposition's continent and whenever he would try to sortie out....<boom!>

It was fun when I was able to research and build aircraft carriers...I was able to launch Alpha-strikes against his undefended infrastructure (cottages, windmills, mines, farms) - it was enough to keep him off-balance and would later sue for peace and fork over a lot of gold...
