Endless crashes.

I seem to have fixed my problem in my control panel by choosing high performance graphics somewhere, I also closed most auto start bull, i don't understand why all websites, including steam need to start automatically when you turn your computer on. I also reset my modem. Everything is working great so far. One thing I want to do is find out the speed of my intel core processor, how do i do that?

I am also getting these crashes. Apparently it is a Driver compatibility thing. My system crashes randomly every 10 - 100 turns without warning. I get a black screen. I see the regular windows cursor, then the error pops up. I click OK on the message and it CTD's.

I have been getting the following error:
FGXRenderer11::Present failed hr=DXGI_ERRORE_REMOVED. Driver failure.

There are a half dozen threads out there that are trying to figure out what the problem is... appears that most of the powers to be are aware of the issue...

Someone found a new BETA driver that says specifically it fixes the Civ V problem but only for NVIDIA 400 500 series here. So I am not sure if it will help for me since I have an 8800 GT.

Going to give it a try and see what happens.

UPDATE: Tried the new driver. Everything on the computer seemed to work ok. However after a couple of tries it crashed again with the FGXRenderer11::Present failed hr=DXGI_ERRORE_REMOVED. Driver failure.
UPDATE AGAIN: Tried using just DX9 and had no luck, After starting a new game CTD after just 9 or 10 turns. Didn't get the FGXRenderer11::Present failed hr=DXGI_ERRORE_REMOVED. Driver failure. error just a straight crash to desktop! Going back to old driver set.

UPDATE: So I rolled back to the normal driver for the 8800 GT and lowered all of my video option settings within the game options menu to medium. This seems to have cured it. I have played over 25o turns in 3 or 4 separate sessions now without a crash. Graphics actually don't look a whole lot different either.

Not sure what would have caused the graphics to all of a sudden start causing crashes within my card but so long as I can play in between the times it takes for them to fix the problem I am good.
