Hulloo.

Among the complex debates of OT, I have pretty straight-forward question for you bunch!

Tonight I want to find out:

Would you ditch your beliefs or 'cause' in the face of death or extreme violence?
Given the price of survival being a lifetime of humiliation and public derision for having sold out?

OR!

Would you prefer to remain consistent and die for your beliefs?
Given the consequence of this would be your friends and family meeting the same fate?

Well, no-one said choosing is easy!
Now, I want you to be honest!

I would be so happy to have your answers on this one!
Discuss freely, play nice and for goodness sake don’t mock the President!

(I don't won't this thread crushed)

If you're putting your beliefs above the lives of your friends and family you're a bit self centred arent you? Perhaps even pathologically so.

Well, it is one of the things I want to find out about our OT colleagues!

Some people do put creed before life, Rodgers!

:crazyeye:

Definitely the former. I don't care about being in derision when my life and lives of my family and friends are at peril. Sometimes being too consistent is foolish, I suppose.

Really? The fools! Name me one instance in which that has made the world a better place ;)

I am not advocating either choice, BTW. I prefer to sit and watch the results!

I am always neutral in my own threads!

You always meet twice in life - don't throw the second chance away!

Who would have believed that that brave but follish maniac Nelson Mandela would one day be President of South Africa?

Never ever give up (and getting killed is giving up!)

Well, ideally I would protects my deep belief with my life.

Now, it's easy to say until you're really facing the death.
But I DO admire people that were ready to sacrifice themselve for others and for justice.

"One who is not ready to die for something is not fit to live."
M. Luther King

Those who give up liberty for the sake of security deserve neither liberty nor security.
--- Ben Franklin

Are we surrendering to the Russians? The Japanese? In which case, I'd gladly punch my own ticket.

This one. My family would agree with it...

Of course it is theoretical and, more important, it depends on what or who you would be going to surrender to.

I wish I could ask your question truthfully, Enemy Ace, but the truth is that I don't know myself. I hope I never find out. :(

i would die for what i believe in because i only BELIEVE in stuff i feel passionate about and if you cant die for what you believe like freedom then what use are you?

I'm asking this because it may help answer your "why" thread. Are you just as passionate about other people's freedom also?

hmmm
If it was in a war and i would be stuck 35 years in a Russian death camp i would fight to the end
If i would after that be realesed and live again normally under shame i would surrender

I would sooner die than surrender my own beliefs. However, I would not have anyone else die for them.

Many French civillians died being liberated from the Nazi's....does that mean the allies were wrong for liberating them?
