Is there anything more annoying than this? You've fought the enemy for ages, taken control of a lot of good wonders and resources, and you know that victory is near... and then you realise that the enemy capital moved to a single tile island. I've made this mistake many times, and as far as I know, the only solution is to find the city and demand it for peace before the capital moves there.
Last time, I didn't play as the vikings so I simply had to wait until amphibious warfare...
Since the island was just a few tiles away, I just watched my good cities flip every 10 turns, again and again until they all got reduced to 1 pop cities... completely useless. I also used republic, and mý people weren't happy with me since I had to fight these beasts again and again. I also had to pillage some tiles so they wouldn't get musketmen as defenders... I guess one tactic may be to build a lot of friendy settlers and let them join the captured cities... maybe that would do it.
How do you usually avoid this from happening?
