usually my core cities are very close together, so they can't insert their cities between mine. however, i would not start a war even if they do that. b/c in due time, their cities will also be my cities, thus they are all equally dear to me. :D

Depends on the situation. Sometimes I await for them to culture-flip, sometimes I attack pretty soon.

Cities? What cities?
I am on aware of what they are going to do, usually. Like in my current game I've secured my continent, wiping out Persians and Aztecs. However, all other nations just keep sending settlers to my continent, to build on same few tiles all the time.
Well, I have nothing against 2 free workers each 2 turns...

I wait it out. Even if they're dumb enough not to build any cultural improvements on there, it takes a while to get them to flip. But it can be very rewarding:

Every game has achieved at least 5 AI-built cities that flip to me. Play on Chieftain maybe that's just why.

Once I snatched more than half of England's cities before declaring war on them to just deal with them all.

My first game - culturally flipped cities that were built in cracks in my territory made up more than half of all my cities.

I come from Australia. I'm used to having my island continent to myself. First task is to remove pesky civs from MY continent. As soon as I have horses, they're dead.

After that, if any Civ wants to make war all they have to do is send in the settlers. All foreign workers are welcome

You have just proven my theory that civ fanatics not only know history but also current affairs.

Thanks.

If there later appears to be a valuable resource near that city I'll go to war for it, but otherwise I just leave it standing. Why would I go to war for a useless patch of desert or tundra?

In time the AI will go to war with me and then these cities are toast.

Kemal, you would go to war because you want all as much territory as you can and you do not want an AI city in "your" territory; you want to control that territory.

Propaganda would be my favorite tactic. Sometimes, it takes a few tries but it will work if your culture is in direct contact with the city's border.

Only if they have Communism, Despotism, or a Monarchy government, though. Many times, by the time I discover Espionage and build the Inteligence Agency, every civ has Democracy.

What happens? I never have had a success before.

Also, by the time they have espionage, they also have nationalism, which mean they are all signing MPP among themselves. Get them to go to war and they won't stay in democracy for long.

I have done that before. Near the end of a war, Egypt had two cities left. And it was a Communist country. For fun I tried propoganda but it didn't work. Cleo was furious at me - so furious that she lauched her whole stockpile of ICBMs at my capital city the turn that war was declared. There were 3 - 2 were zapped but 1 totaled my city.

I'd been already building my own stockpile and lauched six or seven of them at her core cities. Success! The French did the rest.

I love a good story of ICBMs, people don't use them often enough. One of my desert city got nuked once... I am still trying to figure out why they nuked my desert.

I just boil with so much hate that I burn the damn thing, even if it means I get burned in the process.

I have lost all sense of perspective. I know the AI is learning from me. I know it's important to draw a line in the sand and teach the AI who is boss. I must punish it or it will conquer me.

:crazyeye:

Usually if i have a few squares unclaimed that i dont want settled on by another civ i place a unit on each square. AI cant go on that suare unless they declare war first.

Correction: As sson as you have horses you're dead. Plenty of times I've sent horsemen in and they get speared dead. I declared war once on Rome and they had Spearman guarding Veii. I rode in with a few horsement and they were killed all in that turn. Also many times with Barbarian horsemen, I kill 'em all with just Spearmen.
