Enough DLC, how about an expansion?

The contents could be the following:
  1. All of the DLC released thus far.
  2. Bring back espionage.
  3. Bring back random events.
  4. A more developed medieval\renaissance era (let's face it, 1 turn you're using knights, 10 turns later you're on lancers, 10 turns later you're on cavalry. The era hardly exists at all. You end up using tanks\etc for 150+ turns as opposed to 30 of the medieval era.)
  5. New technologies.
  6. HEAVILY IMPROVED MULTIPLAYER <- WHY IS MP STILL UNPLAYABLE ALMOST A YEAR AFTER THE GAME CAME OUT?
  7. Improved AI.
  8. More Civs.
  9. Improvements to bad Civs like England.
  10. New victory type.
  11. More in depth barbarian empires.
  12. New type of city state.
  13. New city state missions.

how about instead they fix more of the fundamental problems with the AI, all the known bugs, and make minor balance fixes rather than make more untested broad sweeping changes and additions.

I don't think the expansion will include the DLC. I think instead they will opt for a DLC bundle pack. But yes, I want an expansion with some new features. I want there to be an added "future" era and a few more late game wonders in addition to everything on Tamed's list.

Civ V: History Revised

Where are you all finding these bugs at? I haven't had a game crash since a couple patches and a couple hundred hours ago.

The AI could use some work. I feel the game is very balanced now and AI improvements, particularly naval ones, are necessary.

I'm totally on board with adding random events into the game. People have complained that they are too...random...but I think they would add variety to each game and make it less formulaic. The randomness of Spain is why they are my favorite Civ to play for fun. It isn't as if we are playing tournaments for blood or money here, so why not have some crazy random stuff happen from time to time?

HEAVILY IMPROVED MULTIPLAYER <- WHY IS MP STILL UNPLAYABLE ALMOST A YEAR AFTER THE GAME CAME OUT?

Multiplayer isn't unplayable. The word "unplayable" or "broken" implies that it doesn't work and you can't play it.

You can play Civ 5 multiplayer - it's just buggy. Although to be fair it's less buggy than it was, they could definately improve greatly upon it.

I don't want them to put all the DLC in an expansion, that would be such a rip off to those who paid for the DLC. I'd rather have a discounted DLC bundle pack with ALL the DLC available, and also a separate expansion.

I'd like to see in an expansion:
  • New Civs such as: Portugal, Netherlands, Poland, Zulu, Ethiopia, Carthage, Maya, Majapahit, Byzantines, Holy Roman Empire. Although the Byzantines and Holy Roman Empire are the ones I want the least from that list, others seem to really like them.
  • New City States (come on, this must be easy as hell to add - why haven't they added more already?) such as: Jerusalem, Hong Kong, Zanzibar, Vatican city, Milan, Kabul, Lagos, Kinshasa, Jakarta, Manila.
  • New City State types such as mercurial etc.
  • New resources (There are some controversial ones such as hemp (cannabis) as a bonus/luxury and tobacco as a luxury. I'd also like to see rice instead of wheat appear on the Asian tileset, and corn on the Americas tileset. You might have salt peter for early gunpowder units maybe)
  • New terrain types such as volcanoes, and maybe natural disasters (which you can turn off in the pre game options)
  • New buildings, units and wonders.
  • New technologies and changes to the tech tree (expanding the classical / ancient era would be nice, in the real world it went for AGES and some civs had very large empires and there was a lot of early war whereas in civ war generally starts in the early medieval era).
  • New features (foreign trade routes, religion, espionage seem to be the most popular with people)
  • New scenarios
  • New map scripts and pre-made maps
I'm not going to put AI improvements or bug fixes here because no one should have to pay for those things.

the game crashes for me pretty consistently if i dismiss a popup / notification early. regardless i was more referring to all the known bugs that can be found in the bugs forum, like annexed cities with a courthouse causing 0 per city unhappiness, or getting multiple great people from hagia sophia.

elite.

Including the DLC's in an expansion pack would piss off the DLC-buyers (me included).
If you want the DLC, just buy the damn DLC!

Not necessairly, I am pretty sure if you meet conditions of : Has Double Civ Pack/Babylon/Polynesia then you get a % or a $ discount when buying online, and if you buy from store you get maybe a $ to spend on anything else (i.e a refund)

I agree. Also I would love it if they found a way to implement religion!

Agreed. Maybe introduce a religious city state type. Jewish-Jerusalem, Vatican-Christian, etc. only problem i see with this is Mecca is obviously Muslim it couldnt work. I DO want religion and I DO want Jerusalem or Hebrews in the game. Its impossible to think about history without the inclusion of religion and Jerusalem has had an Immense impact on the course of history, up until the modern day. Noone with any knowledge of history could possibly debate this.

They could be included in addition to a bunch of other new civs.

No... it wouldn't be taken well by those of us who spent the money to buy the DLC when they came out... if you want to do that it ought not be in the same XP as the other new features, but in a seperate XP, a "DLC Bundle Pack"

I love how no one noticed my comment :| xD

Sorry, but in it's current state it is currently unplayable unless you are a hardcore player who can play for long periods of time (you still have to rely on autosave ) and the AI is useless. Sure at a very basic level it kinda works but for the average player who doesn't want to spend 30 minutes getting it to work, or wait 10 minutes in between turns, and wants to have a AI player or 2 it is unplayable

They're cashing in on the DLC content. Real expansions involve substantial development effort and many hours of play per dollar. DLCs yield far more cash per unit of effort and far fewer hours of play per dollar paid. Why should they bother with an expansion if people are silly enough to pay through the nose for DLCs?

(Seriously people. The total cost for Civ 5 DLCs exceeds the cost of something like Beyond the Sword; is there anyone who would seriously claim that the value for the consumer is even close?)

Well, I'm not THIS German guy but nevertheless I want to predict that an expansion was never as likely as now.

Why? Because said guy mentioned all the DLC we got so far. He predicted the exact content and the order it arrived. And he did not mention anything beyond Korea and Ancient Wonders!

My conclusion is, that everything from Polynesia to Korea was pre-planed and they might plan an expansion to follow next. As I'm still quite sure that there *will* be an add-on, I expect an announcement within two or three month (which is the time new DLC would have been announced).
