Enter Key Does Not Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is getting to be rediculous, every once in a while my enter key does not work, i have seen some posts on this thread of the same problem, and no one seems to know anything or at least no one has the descency to respond to anyone's questions about this problem, For some reason my enter key only works some times and not others usually it doesnt work most of the time.

I have a Dell XPS 600 MC edition
3.1 ghz dual core prosessor
2 gb ram
160 gb 10,000 western digital HD
256mb Geforce 6800 graphics card
physics S accelerator for graphics.......

So i know my computer can handle a game like this but out of all these problems i see here on these forums i have experienced nothing else but the stupid ENTER KEY malfunction can some one please assist me in this stupid and rediculous matter at hand?????

OK, what is your problem, then? Please describe a situation when the enter key is malfunctioning.

I get that sometimes but I'm convinced it's because I have an old keyboard - some of the keys seem a bit 'soft' (maybe sticky and/or worn?) and don't seem to register properly unless you are very deliberate in pressing them from a truly vertical direction. My Enter key doesn't always work if I don't hit it right in the middle. Typically I notice the problem most early on in a game when nothing much is happening and Enter gets a lot of use.

I don't know if this is the same problem as yours as I just hit it again and it generally works. In my case I don't think it's a problem with the game just rubbish hardware.

Are you in a position to try a different keyboard at all???

Turning your num-lock on and off makes this problem go away.

My problem is that i cant send chat messages in the game spy looby and it works its a new keboard and i can talk in game no problem just in the game spy lobby for some reason it just doesnt work and no the num lock key does not help lmao does anyone here know a little more about computer programs and why this doesnt work for some reason???? I mean my hardware is good its somthin with the game that doesnt let me press enter when chatting like i said only in the game spy lobby it doesnt work in game like when ur already playing the game it works so its def not a hardware issue

1. Start using full stops / commas if you want people to understand you.
2. Could it be a network issue then? E.g., you tried to send 2 messages very quickly, your computer is still processing the first one, therefore you cannot send the second one. (Never used gamespy lobby, just guessing here.)

why r u using gamespy anyway? even civ 4 recommends Xfire.

Besides, why do you need to chat? Just play. Or you could reinstall GameSpot.

I have a dual core notebook from dell ( vostro 1500 ) with the same problem. I noticed that the enter key stop working when another program is running.
