Epic World Scenario

This is based on the TET Test of time scenario from PTW

I've completely nicked the idea off the TETTurkhan scenario and nicked the XXL map from some poor devil that slaved for hours making it, so 'my appologies'.

(i'm bored of waiting for Test of time 2)

This is for people with C3C

Anyhow it's set at 4000 bc with the usual victory settings
31 playable civs
All nations start with at least 3 citys (except native americans)

The only changes included are ...........

1: The Americans have been replaced by the Hungarians
2: The Byzantines have been replaced by the Israelites

What's the logic behind removing a civ from a relatively sparse part of the world to already-crowded Europe?

I think the idea is to not have America exist at 4000 BC. Not sure I agree with that one entirely, but I agree with replacing the Byzantines with Israel. Israel is a civ that needs to be represented, and the Byzantines are just fine being represented on a larger scale by the Romans.

Looks like I have to give this one a try.

the game's set to start at 4000 bc mate, America was unknown then, and the americans are a 'mongrol' nation made up from immigrants from all the other civilizations and their settlers,

No Offence to americans but even they refer to themselves as

Irish Americans, Italian Americans, Afro Americans Etc

While America would be the youngest, very few of the civs were around in 4000 BC (Sumerians, probably, perhaps the Chinese, Indians for a sufficiently wide definition of Indian, but just about no-one else). And many other civs are quite "mongrel" to - modern Arabs owe more of their genes to the previous inhabitants of North Africa and the Fertile Crescent than to the original Arabs of the Penninsula.

But even having assuming the Americans have to go, I can think of a whole list of civs I'd think of way before the Hungarians and who come from less crowded areas to boot.

i only chose the hungarians to fill the void on the map around the Balkan/Eastern Europe area and give the players the opportunity to re-create the Austro-Hungarian empire and encourage Euro-trading and developement further as these nations once dominated three quarters of the globe.

They also make excellent rivals for the Romans, Greeks and Ottomans. And good Allies for the Germans

I´ll try it now, but I think I agree with silver. I wouldn´t add civs in cramped areas like europe or mid-east (Yes, I disagree with Israel too. The Hittites, Babylonians, Arabs, egyptian & sumerians can fill their site. Besides it wasn´t such a great civilization ever).
I would posssibly add some african, asian civ or a South American one (to prevent super zulu or Incan empires. I´ll possibly mod it a bit myself.

Hungary would be better replaced by Austria, but you must also consider the Ethiopians, Songhai, Mali, Khmer, Indonesians, Cherokee, Sioux, Moche, Aracuan, Apache, Navaho, Bulgar(ia), Assyrians, and so many more civilizations.

i guess i should've considered the bulgars, but to be honest i'm pretty new to creating scenarios and getting lincolns leaderhead to represent a tribe like the ethiopians or khmer is pretty woefull.
Test of time's always been my favourite scenario and that works despite having a crowded europe except that nations such as songhi, abysinians become unrealisticly strong.

In short the reason i let this scenario out is to give europe and the middle east a bigger playing area whilst leaving the rest of the world pretty isolated and slower to develope.

Changeing Americans to Hungarians is not a good idea.

I don't have anything against Lincoln, but our nation is not Expansionis/Industrialist.

A better choice would be Miltarisitc/Religiuos(many saints in our country, 2 of them were kings. More over King Laszló was(is) a saint of the Catholic Religion and his Daughter is a saint of the Orthodox[greek-catholics] ) or Militaristic/Agricultural(good fields), Scientific

As you can see the last link shows the "historical Hungary" that was estabileshed in 896 A.D. and the country was never bigger then that(except for a few years/decades:I. Louis(Anjou) was the King of Hungary and King of Poland[1370-1380] at the same time, Matthias Rex[aka Mathies Corvinus] conquered Bratislave and Wien, and these cities were under Hungarien controll for a few years, Zigimund von Luxembourg was a King of Hungary and a Holy Roman Emperor for a short time).

So as you can see Hungary was not any bigger, only Kings were on other thrones too. Thus hungarians are not Expansionist .

also, Austria has a premade UU and leaderhed, and if you're looking for a south american or african civs, Ethopia would be best, while for South America you could choose the Moche

I dont think so, after Muhi, Mohács, the WWs and other great defeats.
But yes, we arent't Expansionists at all.

Just for the record, most of us Americans don't refer to ourselves as <insert ethnicity here>-Americans... My family is of German descent but I am American and have never once referred to myself as German-American... 95% of us are just 'Americans'.

African-Americans are the one exception for the most part and even many of them dislike the term African-American.

But for a scenario starting in 4000BC, there's certainly no need to have America as a civ yet.

That terminology over "~American" throughout our society is something deeper than what a few people, educated or not, can determine.

Technically, if you don't want America, why have Israel? The reason I can understand for not having America, though, is that is would be tougher to have America anywhere other than the technological bottom, and the gulf in techs between America and Europe would only grow over time, a situation which is nowhere near contemporary.
