What does that do?
IIRC, you get Victory Points for holding that location every turn. Sadly, I don't remember how the VP's determine a winner but hopefully someone will post soon since I'm curious too.

Want to say 10,000 points are needed. You acrue points every turn that you have a VP location under your control. Now, I don't know if 'under your control' means 'in your territory', 'a city on it', or 'a unit on it'.

Mostly used for MP, but you could use it for a different flavor SP game.

I believe under your control means a unit on it.

I also think that you get VP's for killing other civs' units, and maybe razing/capturing their cities.

Yes, a Unit must be on the tile to get points for it. How many are needed to win can be determined by looking at the Victory Screen (F8). I believe that when setting up a random, VP-enabled game, you can set the number of VPs needed t owin. I could be mistaken, though - that may only be in the Editor....

I was going to say "that's a worker, and he builds things like roads and mines" but you were talking about the victory point marker...

BTW, nice starting location....

I hadn't noticed that before, but you're absolutely right. Cow, wheat, 3 bg's, and a forest, all on a river? Can anyone say automatic factory? I probably would have started max on pottery first, but whatever.

Don't forget the hills, and mining. Very nice! Could contain iron or coal or something later! :)

Did you by any chance just play one of the Conquests and then switch back to an epic game? If so the victory conditions in your current game might be really messed up as the defaults are taken from the scenario and not from your last epic game. This would explain the presense of the victory point location.

Hmm, can anyone say "4 turn worker factory"?
