This was the adverturer's class one if it matters.
(I might be a bit below my normal level but haven't played any of the Games of the Month over here yet)

But anyway I get the following error popup whenever I try to start the game. It doesn't matter if I double click the save fle directory or first go into Civ IV, load the HOF mod and then click load game:

"The save file is protected to ensure the contents of your mod folder have not been changed."
Then when I click ok, another dialog on the top right corner states "Load Failed", then an exit to desktop.

I've already installed the HOF mod into the directory it wants and have not touched any of the files there including the .ini. So I am terriably confused over what it is it's complaining about. :crazyeye:

If it matters, my computer already had BTS 3.13 + what I think is latest version of Bhuric's patch at Apolyton (directly in custom assets) installed prior to the HOF mod. It also has Solver's seperate MA fix directly in the xml.

your problem is with the patch, You'll need to remove it/reinstall the 3.13 patch for it to work. Some of bhurich's patch is already in the HOF mod.

In assets tried renaming CvGameCoreDll.dll to CvGameCoreDll.dll.test
& CvGameCoreDll.dll.old to CvGameCoreDll.dkk under assumtion the .old file was the 3.13 pre Bhuric dll.

It doesn't work. :(

Looking at the info, that's weird both files have the same aprox size 4.64MB and exact same timestamp 11/2/2007 5:56 PM

This should work

1: Apply the 3.13 patch again.
2. Reinstall the HOF mod to the proper location
3. Load the game.

All your Assets files have to match those that were in the game designer's system when the start file was produced. We use the stock installation with the HoF Mod - no other mods.

So, you can't have ANY modified files - Solver's modified XML will screw it up.

actually, you can use graphics mods such as BlueMarble without any problems, but that's the only one I can vouch for(and the bundled CivScale cannot be used either)

Ok, on second thought, never mind.
I usually experence some sort of crash about every 90 minutes of civ 4 playing time and I wouldn't want to keep track of them for turn submitals that I see would be required from the security thread.
(My poor notebook bought in 2004 is slightly below the graphical min tech spec and I don't feel like upgrading it until I buy a new notebook in several months.)

The problem might be renaming and leaving the modified asset file in the dir - my guess would be you have to remove it from there for assets to match completely.

As I understand it, you could save, exit, reboot, load from last save (what I call a resume, as distinct from a reload) once per hour and if there are no crashes, that would be fine with no need to keep a log of the resume events (and no crash log if no crashes). I limped though a few XOTM about a year ago that way before getting a new box.

(Of course, Mods, correct me if I am wrong ... ;))
