Hey All, a few items I found while trying to get the game to work.
First some background: This is a computer I built myself, voodoo5 5500 AGP, 384Mb SDRam, 40Gb HDD, 733MHz P3, Creative SoundBlaster PCI512.
Here's the first problem I ran into:
The games splash screen would pop up but the game itself would never actually start.
The Solution:
I found out that for some reason, the game needs you to start it in 1024x768 mode, or it won't even start at all, at least for me. I normally run in 800x600 res.
The Second Problem:
No sound. At all. I had the most recent drivers.
The Solution:
I recently reformatted the computer, and hence, had to reinstall everything. I neglected to reset the primary soundcard to the SB PCI512. It was using the built in card on my iWill motherboard.
I seriously hope that this helps someone who happens to stumple upon it and is having the same problem I'm having. Hopefully Firaxis will stumble upon this and forward it to the tech crew. These problems could cause some serious problems to people who might not be quite as paitient as I was. Anyhow, I hope this helps people out, I know that most of these solutions aren't even offered on the tech support page Infogrammes has up.
