... for the GameCube. What did you think of this game? I'm only about halfway through it now and it is pretty good, I love chopping up the zombies and whatnot. The puzzles are pretty good but are a little easy and the dungeons are a little small. The story so far is really good by video game standards.

I remember reading in a review that there are three different story paths that you can take. So far I have figured out that the artifact that you touch in the first dungeon as Pious has something to do with getting differrent stories. What are the other things that trigger the differrent paths and are they very different in the first place?

Please don't post any spoilers as I have only completed the fifth or sixth chapter.

Never played it. I don't think I'll even be able to find a copy of it if I tried, it's become rare now. I heard it's really good but got awful sales, under 500k. Otherwise, the only thing I know about the game is the so-called "Bathtub scene." But there's too many good games I haven't played yet right now, so I doubt I will ever get it.

It is almost impossible to find new, I had to get it used and it still cost $25! Luckily it was in great condition being a GameCube game that is rare, it even had the original registration card and warning thing. If you ask around at the video game stores you will likely be able to find a used one one though.

It's too bad you found out about that one scene though, when I saw it I jumped out of my seat because I had no idea it was coming.

Edit: You can try your luck on Ebay but quality is not ensured.

It seems that it's still at Amazon but for a whopping $50 new... my cash reserves are starting to run dry as I have been buying games left and right for quite a while now... and there's still quite a few games I haven't gotten yet. I'll consider it during the slow summer months, but it depends on whether I feel like takling a new game or finishing all my unfinished games (about half of all I own). Plus it seems like Quarter Four will be a very busy period with so many titles coming out. I'll see what happens later... but now I need to get Twin Snakes and Harvest Moon, must get Twin Snakes and Harvest Moon. Then wait for E3 2004. Yes, must wait for E3 2004.

Eternal Darkness is quite an interesting game with good characters and a storyline that contains many mysteries. Hopefully there will be a sequel.

Chapter 4 is perhaps the most interesting chapter. There are many other good ones as well though.

The scene that was alluded to in previous posts can surprising even though it is obvious that something unusual will happen when you approach the tub and when the camera starts moving.

Am amazing game, the sanity effects are just brilliant.
And the way the storie conects chapter by chapter. The most amazing thing is that the plot comes out when you suddenly appear in the mansion reading the book, and your grandpa is talking to you..that gives great clues of the game.

My favorite chapters are well.the one with charlo magne ( srry i dont remeber the numbers) when the character you are using becomes a zombie. The chapter when you are with one of your ancestors ( wich is put in an asylum), the one when you are a monk in a church in france ( BTW I would have never thougth that what happens at the end would happen) and the one where you are in that same church but in WWI, those 2 conect in such a way.

Now that I think about it, all cahpters were interesting, I wasnt bored by any of them.

Also one thing I liked about the game is that characters speak their native language, but , the computer does like a "pause" and you start hearing it in english........just great.

About the bath tub scene well it scared hell out of me.woof I get the creeps thinking about it....

I just finished the ninth chapter. It's hard to decide which is my favorite, mabye Maximilian Roivas. Those Flintlock pistols are a blast to use and seeing the Mansion from a different age is just great. The worst one so far is Roberto's chapter. That one was somewhat boring and short (although I was glad it was).

I agree that Roberto's chapter is one of the worst. I consider Ellia's the worst though. Karim's chapter is my favorite due to many reasons. Chapter 11 and 12 are both quite good. The overall structure of the game is very innovative. :)

There would be much potential for a sequel. They could have charpters at some the same loacations yet have some of them take place in the near future (In Persia at 2010 A.D. for example).

I think there is talk of a sequel, but little is know. Just recently Silicon Knights (the makers of the game) became a third party company. So if there is a sequel it may be on all consoles or maybe just the PS2 or XBOX.

I bet it's a publicity stunt on Silicon Knights' part. We'll have to wait until E3 to really find out though.

-The Silicon Knights' main page STILL has the giant Nintendo logo on it, when Rare was kicked out, the affiliates were changed immediately.

-SK announced their departure 33 days before the pre-E3 show, where the gaming companies show off their games. Also, on IGN and PlanetGamecube, the report time is 3:33. Appearantly the threes have some significane in Eternal Darkness.

-A year ago, the head of SK Dennis Dylack or something said that he was and will be completely loyal to Nintendo. I doubt he would be this hypocritical.

-If any company would pull of a stunt like this, it would be Silicon Knights. Konami sent someone to infiltrate SK's headquarters during the release of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. This stunt would be a very nice sanity effect if they announce an Eternal Darkness sequel.

-Finally, SK and IGN are very good friends to each other. Before SK's release SK had personally answered some IGN forum users' quetions. IGN was the first to report this. Later when SK announced that they would never joke about something like this on IGN, they sounded TOO serious, like how if you're hiding something from a friend you pretend to act real serious and say it's not true.

Whatever, these are just my speculations. It would be awesome if it really happened, though.

That's some good investigating:goodjob:, I hope you are right.

I just finished Chapter Ten now and I just have to say that the graphics really do get better as you progress through the game. That was some beautiful stuff. And the beginining of Chapter Eleven was one of the best looking effects I have ever seen in a game. I'm not sure if it was FMV but it was gorgeous.

I did a little digging and if it is a trick played on us by SK then I don't think they will be showing a sequel to ED just yet. I believe they may be unveiling a game by the name of Too Human. Look at this picture:

Now look at the button that leads to the story on IGN here. Add that the the fact that this game has been in the works for five years and the release date is TBA 2004 one can safely assume that at the very least Too Human is up next for release.

Here is the preview for Too Human.

Edit: Of course I could be wrong. http://cube.ign.com/articles/497/497760p1.html I'm still crossing my fingers, this seems like an awesome game.

I heard about Too Human. Even if this is not a trick about SK leaving Nintendo they will unveil it at E3. If they are not joking, SK will leave largely the same way Square-Enix has left PS2... so I'm still guessing an Eternal Darkness sequel will be shown WITH Too Human if this is just a publicity stunt. But that's just based on what I've seen so far.

I just restarted the game and have noticed something. The clock in Alex's first scene is at 3:33. This convinces me even more that the whole thing is just a stunt.
