Yep, at least he would've been by today's standards. At the time it was just a normal thing for dudes to do, and not seen as being contradictory to having a wife and having sex with women. Hellenic culture was so misogynistic and so revered the male body that they saw it as a good thing for men to be attracted to men, and have sex with each other, because that's just men (smart, good) appreciating the beauty of men (immaculate, gorgeous, peak human performance).
Not to say it's not queer representation. It's just that it wasn't a marginalized identity back then.
