Eurogamer with Starting screen!

I have to say, I was hoping they would use the promotional image (the one with Atlas) as a background. It's so cool.

The current start screen is alright, but looks a bit empty.

It is gonna change - I'm very certain about that!

Hmmm...

This is intriguing, to say the least: France, Egypt, The Aztecs and Brazil all seem to have a different color scheme from the ones used in-game.

The French, in-game, have the exact same color scheme as they did in Civ V, but in the menu they have a deeper blue instead.
Egypt is completely different, and doesn't resemble anything I've seen before.
The Aztecs, for some reason, are using Civilization IV's symbol for The Maya, colors and all! :crazyeye:
Brazil is using Yellow-on-Dark-Green in the selection screen, but using Dark-Green-on-Light-Green in game (same as Civilization V). We had also seen these two color schemes being used in Brazil's First Look video.

I wonder if they're messing around with color schemes and, if so, which will be the ones used in the final game...

And if I change the schemes, will the civ emblem color change with them automatically? I hope so. Please Firaxis!!!!! :D

France's color actually matches the color we saw for the Settler in the video.

It's possible that all the colors are placeholders, because the colors for Pedro were seen in his First look (the ones on the icon here) but there was a part where he used the old ones.

To be fair, I hope so, the old colors are tired, and I'd like some more freshness given how unique and new everything is. I mean, all they had to do was copy and paste the color schema from Civ 5 to Civ 6 to get the colors in given the system is the same (Two colors determined by a primary and secondary color).

In the great person list, I noticed that Themistocles provides a quadrireme ship immediately when you recruit him. I don't know if that naval unit was known before this video was uploaded.

Yes. It's been shown since the beginning and we learned its name in the England video.

If you catch the frame when they mouse over Roosevelt for a minute, it specifically says that the Rough Rider is an American UU received "when Teddy Roosevelt is their leader." Sounds like pretty explicit confirmation of eventual multiple leaders.

Or it's like Civ IV where you can mix and match leaders and civs in the advanced game setup.

I know they did not show the options menu in this video so maybe it's there already but if you are reading this Firaxis, PLEASE put the civlopedia somewhere in the main menu screen!

Something I noticed: it seems civilization theme music is based again on real pieces - I think I heard Mo Li Hua or "Jasmine Flower" being played by a lute in Qin Shihuang's screen...

In the live stream developers were asked about color schemes. They said the build is a month old and there were big color scheme changes after it, so "first look" videos mostly have new ones.

As much as i'd enjoy and love to see that, This video kind of suggests against it since the colours for the civs in the build aren't the colours of the symbols.

But of course anything can be changed and I hope this does happen.

Hopefully what we are seeing, in regards to the menus and starting options, are just placeholders and very early designs.

Looks a lot like Civ 4's main menu, just that the images failed to load. ^^

But it's almost certainly not done yet, I'd assume that's the kind of stuff you'd do last anyway.
