Hi guys!

I am Glen from the European Gaming League, I have been a massive fan of Civ since playing Civ 1 on my Amiga 500+ back in the day!

I am on here as we are thinking of running some Civ 6 tournaments, we work on a grassroots/community upwards level, and have worked with 2K on Civ 6 already (We helped produce a live stream on their facebook page last tuesday).

What I am looking for is help with a ruleset, we know Civ isn't the quickest of games! So know 1vs1 tournaments will most likely last a month or so, but we are looking to work with the community to help build up something fun and great! (With Team Liquid now involved it could get interesting!)

Current ruleset I have come up with:

Turn time - 45
Map - Shuffle
Map Size - Duel
Resources - Standard
Start Position - Standard
Turn Timer - Standard turn timer
Game Speed - Quick
Turn Mode - Simultaneous Turns
Ruleset - Standard Rules
Start Era - Ancient Era
Domination Victory - True
Culture Victory - True
Religious Victory - False
Science Victory - True
Score Victory - True
Limit Turns - Custom
Max turns - 300
Barbarians - False
No Tribal Villages - False

What are peoples thoughts? Would people play in it? We may be able to get a money cant buy Civ 6 prize (We gave away some cool compasses on the stream last week)

Civ community is so lazy :), 0 replies here.

First of all i think civ duels are really fast if you pick the right map (like hb pangea or something open), its a modded map.

Also you can set different starting eras, like medieval or industrial start make the game really dynamic as well.

turn time 45 seconds is not gonna work because civ has no build queues etc, once each player has 7-8 cities and they both will have large standing armies+trade routes to manage it simply cant be played in 45sec. We play with a 150seconds timer and even that gets too short once you grow the empire.

Also why religious victory off?

I think people are more interested in ffas, also 2v2 might be more popular...even tough competitive duel community is growing thanks to "civilization players leagues" steam group and will probably grow further if team liquid is serious about making a civ6 team.

If no mods are created to balance out the game i guess you will have to ban certain civs, for example sumeria scythia and rome are super strong in ancient era start, germany is super strong in later starting eras as well(or was before the last patch) as in medieval start etc etc.

It should be a mirror map script so that terrain isn't too critical a variable.

Ldeska is already working on this: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/ld_mirror.602519/

Perhaps your mates over at Firaxis could whip something up ;)

I have not heard back from Ldeska lately, but there is an issue with Civ6 and mirror maps with rivers crashing the game....this is likely why we have not seen Firaxis or any modder making a mirror map, best we have from Firaxis is cloverleaf and snowflake which are even starts but not mirrors.
